Default BK Servo upgrade

I have beem using futaba 9650's for cyclic and a 9254 on the tail for the past 2 years.. they stil work good but I jus wanted to change them out for something new..

There have been a few threads about servos but I haven't seen anybody using these or the others like them in a Protos. If there are please let me know how you like them or don't.. to me the specs on these looked amazing.. and its a beautiful servo itself lol.. So I took the leap of faith and got these

The install went smooth.. but you can't help but notice the thicker better quality of the servo wire. They are noticeably faster and should throw it around pretty good.
What do you guys think.. may be overkill.. but they should be more than durable enough for the job.

Forgive my wiring.. I'll fix it before she flies

I didn't think they would fit in the back because of the standard size motor bulging out. Are they touching the plastic frame? They'd probably have a hard time fitting in the CF frame.

Are you planning to run these on a separate BEC at HV?

No I figure just running them at 6v is more than enough but there is a CC 10 amp bec on the heli, ..If the protos was "designed" with 9650's at the helm... something throwing almost twice the torque & speed should be fine.. Heck I may be able to get away with 5.5 v... No reason why not to try it.. And they fit with oogles of space in the plastic frame.. never built a carbon so couldnt be sure.. But fitting them in was not a issue at all..except cutting the guide plate for servo screws in half. the mounting tabs is are just a tad wider than the 9650's and caused slight alignment issues.. but cutting the guide solved it

Will this RJX tail servo fit, or do I need to order BK servo to fit?

After finally after nearly half a year fight, seemingly sorting out my protos, im looking for a hv setup myself. Nice to know that seemingly they fit! I think i have my old plastic frame somewhere, so i need to compare space available..

I know this is an old thread, but have anyone installed this BK servos on cylic in the CF-frame? I am looking at different servos for the kit (CF fram) I have coming soon.

I ended up ordering a Gryphon Agena (GSR-5045 LMT) bec.
The CC 10 amp is only capable of 5 amp max on 6s. that lil cc bec jus wasn't gonna do it. I also ordered the Gryphon mini for my mini P, and yes its a mess to mount that big bec on the 500. Now they perform GREAT.. I also added the lynx slider and tail blades turn on precomp in the Ikon and its like having a whole new heli to learn.

How wide in mm (widest point at the servo motors) are the two cyclic servos when installed in the heli? By looking at the picture in you first post it looks like the servo motors might interfer with the CF frame. These servos look VERY tempting looking at their specs! Thanks

I don't have my a micrometer here.. but looking at my frame they definitely will have problems with the CF frame.. I can see a little curve where the servo motors touch the frame..
I've had no interference as far as performance and all servos come down cool. I'm actually happy with them, they do have clearance on the inside(motors not touching)
I did this not for the brute performance of the servo, but because I got tired of rebuilding servos for hard landings lol.

Thanks alot for your input

Are you using the MSH/YGE 60 ESC together with the Gryphon BEC?

Looks like the the Torq CL5180 HV mini servo might be the ticket for cyclic servos on the CF frame Protos 500
