Parts are starting to come in.

It's a Moxon rectangle 433mhz antenna from IBCrazy for the soon to arrive uhf transmitter.
This will DOUBLE the range!
At the connector is a filter to eliminate any transmissions resonating above 433mhz.
This not only prevents the uhf transmission from screwing up my soon to order 1258mhz video system but makes the whole system user friendly if I ever fly around others no matter the system they are flying, like 2.4ghz.

Once again, there's a hell of a learning curve.
Time to get busy and work on getting my amateur ham radio license.

When I was younger (a lot younger... ) I was member of a local ham radio club, almost got my license, studied a lot, We even needed to know morse code and such. Lots of regulations, antenna theory, etcetera. Still have all those old books, but at the last moment, things got in the way. Like girls for example, lol. Talking about sex appeal...

It's no easy task, good luck with it buddy !

Thanks, Raf. Tell your boy he needs to post some vids, ( since we can't seem to get any out of you lately,,, hint, hint ).

Figured delivery by Thanksgiving was optimistic. Really hope to see it before Xmas!
Started thinking about where the hell I'm going to put the osd? Receiver is no problem. So, I made a little shelf to sit above the motor control unit of my WKM..
It's a trimmed out portion of a spare plate you see the gps antenna and motor controller mounted on.
Plenty of carbon fiber to prevent the osd gps from messing with or being messed with by any of the other electronics.
The posts I cannibalized from my old Gaui 330xs. Remember that damn thing?

Seems to be the time for upgrades.
Ever since I got my Seawolf fvp camera, I have been unhappy with it. It does have great color, and the contrast is fine, but the clarity has never matched the one I lost out in the pumpkins, plus it's heavy as hell.

So, I've ordered this. http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...oducts_id=1405

Next up, a 1258mhz video transmission system. I'll loose a little clarity but will gain over the hill and penetration.

Come April, fatshark is to release their new DominatorHD goggles. I'm keeping an eye on these, along with that Sky Drone hd system. The virtual reality of the Oculus VR goggles, sounds like a lot of fun. The games they have in virtual reality, crazy stuff.
Still, I have a feeling the DomHD goggles will be the way to go. They too are working on the phone modem principle.
The benefits of this type system are crazy. Not only will you see fpv in hd but also record on your phone.

Then, to finish it all off, it will be time to work on the ground station.

First, however, new battery's are a must.

Slowly getting there.

Worked on installing my new video camera and the EZZOSD.
Due to it's small size, I moved the camera forward about an inch or so.
I spent a great deal of time figuring out how to route the cables, plus I needed to modify the cable to the new camera.
Due to the fact that Immerson is geared toward FatShark I had to reverse the power leads on 3 connectors.
If that wasn't enough the pin out on the new camera is different, I had to swap the red power lead with the video lead.
Triple checked everything, helped I was sober so all was correct.

The rest of the osd was just routing cables so she looks good, well, as good as a fat girl can.
You would think that with the weight I saved on the camera she would be loosing weight, but considering the ezuhf receiver is heavier than the Futaba receiver, plus all the cables, plus the weight of the osd and let me tell you the current sensor ain't light either.
No, she's definitely an "arm chewier".

Congratulations! Have you also found the way to transmit 1080p signal in HDMI format over the air?

It's coming out this next year. Basically uses a phone modem. Pretty cool. Just plug into my cell phone and will see 1080p.

Oh-boy! Santa says I've been a vey good boy this year, it's shipped!!!
I can't wait. got a whole week off next week, plan on getting a bunch of this work done.

In the mean time;

One of the major problems with multi's is that the prop adapters are all threaded clockwise, meaning 3 motors spinning opposite will loosen even a double nut over time.
I had a perfect reminder of this when I took off my props for all this work I'm doing. After a whole season of flying, quite successfully without incident I might add, one prop had worked its way dangerously loose.
Well, Tiger motors has come out with ccw prop adapters, so I picked up a set.
I know, it's a small thing, and yes a Teflon lock nut works just fine, however, remember 6 times the problems so any extra security you can add, especially when it doesn't involve adding weight is an excellent idea.
When flying these things, single rotor or multi's, success is in the details.

Still shipping,,,

,,, always wanted to use that icon.

Still, got some more progress done.
Wiring is now all complete, though not tested. Got everything twisted up nicely and everything is secured in place.
Did a change to my amber lights, remember, they washed out my fpv camera. After deliberating several methods, I just chose to remove the led's on the inside of the arms. I really like these SuperBrite led's, they stick out forever.

About all I got left to do now is to upload the new firmware into the uhf receiver and then it will be time to apply power and set everything up!

How long before the maiden? I don't know how you can stand the wait. I'm getting excited for you. I hope we don't have to wait for summer? Still it's on its way now. Every day from now on will be getting longer.

Cheers

Well, got to go to work when I wake up today. Come Monday I have 5 days off.
If all goes well and the weather cooperates, maybe then. Since I'm stuck to the mercy of winter, I can't plan that far in advance.
There's going to be a hell of a lot of testing to go on, but yeah, I'm getting stoked!
Only limiting factor will be battery time, just the way it should be.

Some progress happening.

Did several power up sequences, none of the magic smoke let out so that's a good thing!

Kind of a little stuck at the moment.
Went into the WKM Assistant program to recalibrate the tx sticks. Everything worked ok except on the 3 way tx switch for controlling flight modes, I get a flashing blue light and none at all in gps mode.
For the life of me I can't remember how to adjust the center position for each side of the switch?
Truth is, I'm tired so I really didn't spend much time on that.

Tonight I hope to finish up the uhf side of things and then start on the osd side.

The Zeiss goggles show up tomorrow, they say!
