Default 550E ver. 2.5 - anyone noticed?

Picked up my 2nd 550 today, stacked the kit frame on top of an aftermarket 2mm frame to make sure all holes aligned and found the shape of the frames are different!!!

Appearently, Align noticed a slight CG problem with the 'older' versions. Even with 5200mAh packs that weigh 800g, its still slightly tail heavy.

The new frame has the battery tray in a more horizontal position, (pointing the battery at a shallower angle, thus shifting more weight forward with the same battery). At the same time, the more horizontal battery position also raises the CG, making the heli perfrom better side tic tocs and rolls.

There're also two slits cut in the front of the frame... which allows the receiver to be mounted in the front if one wished.

BTW, all the holes in the 2mm frames lined up (except the battery tray), and the 2mm frames are WAY stiffer.

No pictures yet, if anyone is interested, I'll try to shoot some when I get a chance.

Going to be tricky mounting the RX up in front. Do you know what the second holes are for? under the battery tray near the front

this here is pulled from helidirect old frame design much steeper battery tray angle and no front rx mount tab holes and then pics of my frame on my newly built 550 you can see the slots in the front of the frame for the rx plate and clearly more level orientation of the tray, however with the 5000mah blue lipo AND my CC Pro BEC up in the nose it is still tail heavy with the battery slid down so the top strap barely covers the battery.
