Default My CB100's have beaten me!

Ok I got a CB100 for christmas. It didn't make it thru its maiden flight! Ever since I have been working on it. It was a 2436 version with 2.9 tail. On the maiden flight you can guess what I broke, Thats right the tail boom. It broke on both ends. Proceeded to learn how to deal with soldering the tail wires and motors. I went thru 3 motors Managed breaking the wires on 2, the first one was toast after the crash. Finaly the forth motor I mastered wiring the tail. Thought this was going to be the ticket, Not! Uncontrolled ccw spin tail in. So I decided to get the hot rod upgrade with a 2605 Rx. This was a excellent idea I thought. I got maybe 20 good flights out of it. Then the tail motor broke the wire at the stator. This is when I decided that with all my spare parts and a few more, I could build 2d CB100. How could I possibly screw up both of them?

Here are my configurations on these 2 headaches!

#1 CB100 Stock
2436 Rx
Main ESC wst-wk-10a-L
Tail ESC wst-wk-10a-LTC New
Stock Main motor
HP03T Tail New

#2 CB100 HotRod

2605a Rx new
Main ESC wst-wk-10a-L2 new
Tail ESC wst-10a-LT new
TurboAce Main Motor new
HP03T Tail new

I have a total of 8 batteries 6 - 3.7v 500 mah and 2 - 3.7 700mah
My Tx's are a 2402 and a 2801 Pro I have tried both on #1 and #2.

#2 in 2801 Comp with its own model setup as per Wow and Wakera setup as well as 2601 mode.

#2 is the model that I was able to get about 20 flights out of before a new 2.9 broke a wire. I put on a new one. I seem to have been beaten by these heli's. I won't even bring up my GCP yet.

My dilema is that these heli's Spin CCW tail in and will lift anywhere from 8 to 12" before an ugly tip to the side. There are 2 models in my 2801. I have tried everything possible that I know of on my 2801 pro Subtrim, trim and travel. I have tried adjusting mix and extent on rx2436. On my 2605 I tried the gain pot. BTW I should mention tail blade is on correctly and spins CCW. Main blades spin CW. I have JT tailfins on both with solid CF boom. I made extended booms and stock I tried both.

I have sacrificed lot's of $$$ to the Heli Gods with so little joy

Does anyone know what I am missing?

At any rate I have been lurking around in the shadows of Helifreak gaining valueable knowlegde. My many thnks to all!

About the heli spinning CCW, have you tried pushing the tail rotor as close as possible to the motor and putting a drop of hot melt glue on the tail rotor shaft?

My blades did need to be pushed in more. They were snug though and didn't work. I have used the hot glue trick which usually helps. I am curious though what symptoms a Rx has when there is an issue with them. My 2605a resolved my issue until motor was replaced. Also I have rewound a few HP03T motors one of which was on my CB100 #1 it didn't work out so well so I replaced the ESC with no results. I tested said motor on CB100 #2 before putting new motor in #2. I would think that if a failed motor or a poor rewind the ESC would fail. I am not sure how that could happen since the 3 wires are all connected to each other. Can there be a short somewhere? All ESC's are stock there has been no soldering to them. I have tested continuity on my wiring all is good. This is really troubling me this thing flies so well when it's dialed in and I really like the 2605a with the 2801 Pro!

There seems to be no logical explanation that I can think of. I'd hate to get another Rx only to find it was something stupid.

I checked the revers to see if it was that, no luck there either.

How could this happen on both off them?

Hi all,

I posted this in the walkera CB100 forum and I don't seem to see it in the new posts area. So here is a link to my dilemma

It is very difficult for the RX to burn out. I think your problem is either in your motors or the connections (I have soldered all connections to avoid problems like these)
Not sure about the ESC,(which work with your RX) but I really like the HP05 outrunners.
As far as the motors, not all three wires are connected to each other, they are covered with a thin layer of epoxy that insulates them from each other.
You mentioned you wound up the motors, did you use winding wire?

I thought the Rx could stand up well. I have 4 ESC's 3 of them new. All the ESC's listed above will work in my config. I have been eyeballing the HP05 for some time now. When I got my hotrod kit the HP05 was not in so I wound up with the TurboAce. In the mean time I'm battling this. It's not making any sense. I can fly my cb180d fine with both Tx. I am still learning the 2801 pro but finding it easier to understand since I have been programing a 2436, 2605, and now a Genius CP. Wow, did that open my eye's!
I am in Love with the GCP!
Maybe I'll try soldering them to the ESC. Thing is I tested my connections they seem fine. 2 different receivers and radios and they behave the same. Ahhh who knows maybe the CB100's will see the GCP flying around and get with the program!

Default Web Redemtion!

Well, I thought I would update this thread. It was a challenge but with time and perseverance I have overcome the electrical and mechanical issues plaguing both CB100's! I am so happy that I finally got the pay off. I took some pictures of the HotRod and the modifications made that I have seen in the forums. There is a lot more durability with the solid CF boom and hot glue on the frame. The bonus is the ease of repairing the tail motor now with the motor wires running along the boom!

This is the joy of a noob!

This is kind of dark but I couldn't believe I could fly it behind the bed with out being able to see it.

They might of won some battles but I won the war!!
