Default Anyone run 3 power supplies in series?

I have 2 of the HP power supplies that I have been using. Now that I have switched to a DPL8 with Bump controller I'm thinking about upping the voltage to 36v. Anyone try this with the HP 1200 power supplies? Will I have issues with the Bump controller running 3 of these in series?

i just got my bump control so im not to up to date yet on how much voltage it can handle i only run 12v to mine, but if worried about voltage just run 12v to bump off one of the supplies and full 36v to dpl8.

im only running 24v to my dpl8 whats the advantage to running 36v?

Hey inkspot,

Glad to see you are still into heli's, I remember you from RR when I first started years ago

When looking at the PL8 manual I seem to recall each side was limited to about 1,000 watts on 24v. There is also the buck boost issue if charging 6s packs. There is room in the Rigid case for a third so I figured why not give it a try.

My main concern with the Bump controller was the noise from a third power supply and also the ground issue. Since all the power supplies would be wired in series I'm assuming everything would share a common ground but wanted to be 100% sure.

I'm running 48V to my DPL8.

Unfortunately, my 2000W generator is not capable of supplying enough power to feed everything, and so it trips and shuts down when I try to charge two 12S 5000 sticks at 3C.

Yes, I'm running a 48V 2000W Meanwell also. It's a little pricy, but fits the most power in the smallest lightest package. It's driving a BUMP and two DPLs. It works great.

Charging four 5000mah packs at 3C, the BUMP indicated my total draw was right around 1700W at the peak. That was one reason I went with the Honda 3000i when I bought a genny last year.

I'm running my DPL8 off 3 12v (36.7v) power supplies in series with no issues. Works great!
