Default 4525 520 Limited Edition tested !

Well it arrived yesterday, Boca ceramics installed by Lucien Miller and Ashley at the shipping department of Innov8tive, you guys have made me a happy man.

It turns really smooth, much easier than my 4035 530 that was in the 700 before.
Mounting it was easy, I had to remove part of the Align metal servo mount, I used the Align helical gear set and set the mesh so the high spot was tight, sprayed it with silicon. I let the helical pinion rest on the bottom bearing before I tightened the set screw.

First test was with a Gov gain of 8, just in case. Set RPM 2150 with my CC120HV for most of the flight, flew for five minutes, some loops flips and rolls and some 14,5 degrees full power climb outs straight up and reverse straight away to straight down, everything held up well , the power was fantastic, a real noticeable difference from the 4035 530 which was already quite awesome !
Motor runs cool and indications from the CCgraph indicate I have used about 75% of my Nanotech 5000's in the 5 minutes. Max Amps 180 .Click image for larger version

The best power difference was noticed in consecutive flips, no bogging whatsoever. With the 4035 530 you could notice the headspeed dropping. My flip rate is set very fast, full tilt on the Vbar Agility, and 105% on the dual rates, that's like about 12,5 degrees of cyclic pitch, it flips really fast.
I have now raised the gain to 10 and will report.

Man that looks nice, but you don't have much left of that elevator mount : )

man 14.5' pitch and you didnt even strip the gear...... I may have to get one of those gears.
Also I wonder if the scrop delivers power smoother then the kde 1917. As I am thinking here with an out runner their may be more inertia that it has to speed up, where as with an in runner it does not so it could be acting more like an impact on the gear then smooth power.

Just wondering but what were the temps?

F22 - I think you might have one of the few KDE motors left standing...I loved mine until it burned up.

Mine is still running strong, I have lost count of my flights : ) my sk unit is telling me something like 200 : )
Either way I am still going to switch out to my 5035 When ever I get it wound, and it sounds like compared to this flight log its going to be pretty programming.

I'm more interested in the temps.

A guy posted his results a few weeks back with this motor, said it got so hot it would melt your skin off.....

Sounds like it got shorted to the stator, as with this large of wire it should run really cool, 1.4mm wire offers almost no resistance : )

They run hot, lots of info in the tdr forums.
They knock out good power, but pull a ton of juice too, you'd be at, or under, 4 minute flights when flying hard 3d.

I should clarify that they run hot, but only when you fly them hard. It'll run as cool as any other motor if you're just cruising around doing basic aerobatics as brett74 described in his original post.
The thicker wire has less resistance yes, but these motors also tend to pull alot more amps, so actually a larger amount of wattage is being lost as heat due to the overall higher power level.
Alot of the tdr guys are using special heatsink motor mounts with the 4525.

Like no one, they were limited. Awesome Power, had one tried it, sold it, sucks a lot of amps and not that much more power than the Xera 4035 I am running now.

A nice motor for sure.

Mine gets to 200-205F. If I run it on a lower headspeed like 2100, it gets 185F ish.

Castle 6.5mm bullets. Yes they're thin but they are stiff as hell, like home AC wire.

I was flying mine in my Trex based TDR clone and my TDR. Besides that no main gear withstand this Motor in my Trex, the motor got really jot in my TDR. Head-speed up to 1950 governed by my Vbar I got 3,5 min of flight time and ended up at 250F on this Scorpion. It's not really an issue for this motor.
The thing you need is a good Esc and some good batteries. Than you'll reach more than 10KW without a problem. I'm using 65c ThunderPower. My HK batteries had about 176F on the outside and voltage drop is really extreme... TPs run ~80F cooler.
I'm flying a X-era 4530 now which runs at 160F with 270A / 10.7KW spikes on a HeliJive...
