You sure are covered in parts.

I dont think a rush 550 will fly too good with a 12mm mainshaft and 10mm feathering shaft.. He would have to design new lighter weight components . I am sure he could do it but for time and money.

Belt drive is light and simple. All of the Goblins and Mikados still use them.

The EVO servo configuration should be used.

Do you have larger helis as well?

Sold all my Outrage 550 stuff and put electronics into my Goblin 500. OMG. Running on 516mm Rail blades currently. Gaui 520mm blades nice too. I do NOT miss my O550 at all... 5X more complicated to fix than the Goblin 500... and I still have a belt tail!

So, your advice is to walk away from Outrage?

A lot of people are selling their Goblin 500s. You say I should cut my losses and go there?

I do have a good supply of parts. As for advice like Pete's, you won't get anything for your O550. If you enjoy flying it like I do keep it in the air until you run out of parts. Economically that is the smartest thing to do. I keep hearing you need to scrap the O550 and move on, my opinion it is still the best 550 size made. Mine will fly until they can fly no more.

I have a Rave Ballistic that I share batteries with the O550s.

After 3 years skip, I put back my bird into the air. But I have to notice that scarce part availability.

This size is perfect for my budget.
Now I started gathering parts for bad days. I hope I'm not late.

I will follow your advice.

I was toying with getting a used Fusion, but I think I will scrap those plans and save up to get a used Gob500.I was worried about parts costs, The booms are $33 versus about $8 for normal helicopters.

The boom does pop off... 95% of the time.. especially on the 500! Cheapest and toughest and easiest heli to repair (that I've owned in this class).... so far anyway

I've got 2 in the air and an airframe along with a good stock of parts. I hope to be able to keep them in the air for a couple more seasons too. I had one bad week over the summer and crashed both of them in the same week. One of the crashes was my worst ever with any heli. I ended up moving the electronics to one of my spare airframes, it was a total loss. I've been eyeing the Goblins for a while but I think I'll wait one more season before I pull the trigger on one...

I was eyeing a goblin, but I picked up a fusion really cheap. One crash on the goblin would pay for the fusion. Looks like I have two obsolete machines. Now if I can just get a G5.......

My belt pully has broke in two part in the air.

And my friend crash his Golin 570 with 450$ of damage.

Its all in the crash.. I had a belt break on my Goblin 700 during a flight last spring and it "crashed" too.. it cost me $20. But (if parts were still abundant) I agree the Outrage 550 was a tank and fairly inexpensive (although difficult to repair) heli... but I did have a few crashes that were over $200 with blades, canopy, frame etc.

I have never gone over a $100 crash yet on my G500 (including blades) and it is about the same size as the O550... certainly 'bigger' looking in the air. And the G500 is magnitudes easier to repair... that is important to me too and factors in to my fleet.

The 500 would have interested me if I had been able to use the 550 blades as an eventual replacement for my Outrage 550.

I talked briefly with Charlie Stephens at IRCHA. . The new EVO has direct to Swash linkages( I believe it is due to market pressure). I asked him if he was considering a monocoque boom, he said it doesn't work really well with the torque tube drive because of misalignment.

All of the older helicopters had a "music wire" drive shaft that handled misalignment well when sheaved in a nylon tube.

Align has a dummy monocoque boom on the market. Everyone is copying Goblin for now because they are so easy to see.

Is the EVO going to be a 550 size heli in the Alees line?
