Default Banshee

Got curious about this new heli and send an email inquiry, this is their response.

Hello,

In the moment we are very busy to complete the development of our Banshee and to do the final testing.

I'm sorry, but so far I cannot tell you the final price for the kit, but as soon as the price is fixed, we will provide all necessary information on our website. We will send you an email, as soon as the information is available.

If you like, you can put yourself on your information list: http://www.banshee-helicopters.de/in...p/vormerkliste

Best regards

Interesting but looks like an un-ashamable copy of the TDR with enough subtle differences to get away with it, competition never hurt for the customer, lets see.

CyprusFlyer,

very interesting opinion.

I see a heli with complete belt drive gear anda free standing thick carbon tailboom.
chassis has oneparted sidewalls and is much more stiff.
canopy is more than 3cm less broad than tdr.
motor is hanging instaed of standing.
anyway, you can built in a motor of 5035 size and drive it with 16S and really a lot of power.
the gear is able to work with my strongest motor so far.

now pls. declare the substancial points, what was copied!
okay, it is also a 700 class helicopter..... as far I'am with you.

The TDR basically invented the class of "closed-canopy" speed-helicopters.
The banshee also used to feature original TDR main and tail rotors, swashplate etc. so it is fair enough to say it basically started as a tuning chassis / belt conversion of the TDR (incl. 2 stage transmission etc.pp.)

Yes you are right, maybe I should not post throw away comments without looking harder into the subject apologies. However, there are not many ways to make a wheel (as Jan admits) so any model trying to achieve the same aims is bound to look similar. Not unlike a car I suppose, but everyone has a personal favourite and it is only good that we as customers have a choice.

Yes, Banshee shaft/spindle is 12/10mm. Better get on their wish-list sooner than later.

A few more Banshee should be out until the end of this year. Right now it's my favourite machine because it has nearly all features I want from a machine. Meanwhile I'll throw around my Goblin...
TDR-clone or not... TDR wasn't the first machine in this style, it was the first which got in series with all those attributes and caused a revival of this kind of flying. The design is nice, but calling any other similar helicopter no matter if it's a Goblin, Diabolo or Banshee a copy, that's a little bit funny.
The parts (rotor head, ...) was exchanged pretty quick... I wouldn't used 10mm main-shafts especially with those low-profile heads.
Even if it would have been a copy, I would enjoy it if it improves the TDR design. Right now the 16s speed banshee sets the limits. Some (mainly German) TDR folks complain that it's unfair to compare it with a TDR because of it's closed "fuselage", 16s, whatever...

In my opinion, nothing is a clone, they are fine German engineering of outstanding quality. I am having a blast right now building my TDR and every second that I am admiring the engineering I am talking to myself " myself the Banshee and TDR are nice sisters to their big brother Diabolo" sorry could not resist

I totally agree that calling these helis a "copy" is just silly.

I think that's not quite correct. Pics on the HP still show TDR head/tail system. Only main rotor was modded to use more "classic" swash plate follower. According to the HP, their own rotor head is still being tested and not final yet. And according to the pics, speed record was also flown with those TDR parts.
So give credit where credit is due
That being said, I'm patiently sitting on the pre-reservation list

Yes I cannot wait to get my hands onto some of that fine engineering with the TDR, a lot of pleasure to be had with the build, old enough to remember proper Mechano, only these Helis end up as fantastic machines to do something with. Should not comment on alternatives without a proper evaluation but on the list for a TDR, happy to go with a product with a good track record and lots of information on the forum available.

TDR may be the first to use a "closed-canopy" but its not a new design shape.

This one you do not put on your head... you sit in it. Its a 1936 design... of course a German engineer.
