Default Stock ESC Issue

My stock ESC failed dead short across the battery wires. My ESC was working just fine the day before - the motor spun up, servos worked and the 3GX worked fine. Tried to hook up the battery today and and I got really big sparks.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks

The stock esc either works a long time or less than 10 flights. I number of people have reported them failing during setup on the bench. Others have hundreds of flights without an issue. Worse case is when it takes out your servos and/controller when it goes.

I didn't use my stock one. There are just too many reported failures. I ordered a cc bec pro and cc ice 100 esc from the gitgo. Its not that they don't fail as well, but the odds seem better.

I have been using the stock ESC on my 500 and it has been great! but have been pretty skeptical about using it on the 550 after hearing all these stories. I just don't understand why Align would include the same ESC on the 500 as they would on the 550. One would think there would be a recall, after this many cases, since it's a safety issue. For now I have a CC 100 on the way...
