JR has built the perfect fan for a PUH.. I bet the engine runs smoother with that big diameter fan on there
The clutch, I would change for my own personal considerations, but it probally works ok for FAI type flying.. I would love to have one myself...

hey david, I just installed a SK720BE that I hope to test in the next week or so. I've spent a lot of time working on the turbine model

Do you know what the Part support is like here in the US. I would hate to have to order parts from Japan for it.

well now that Len is taking over JR I think they'll get caught up on parts

but I tell you, all the parts I got for this last year I got from Japan. I would order on Sunday night and they would be at my house the same Thursday.

I can't get stuff from the northeast or northwest any faster than that

Hey Carey,

I hope that you do a full product review of the SK 720BE. on the GSR not just a brief mention.

Since you first mentioned getting one of 720Be units I have been waiting for the results of your review.

Will you be using the GPS ? since it is necessary for the hard deck and return to home functions I hope it will be included in your review...

Hey Bobby

no I didn't get the GPS unit, its a pretty expensive option and I'm not sure how well it will work if the self leveling sensors don't like the vibration

Hi Carey,

Just wondering how the GSR is going.

I am attempting to teach myself to tune the Zenoah. I am not entirely happy with the handling of the GSR at 1400-1500rpm as the book recommends. What rpm are you using. I am also a little confused as to the appropriate engine rpm. My GSR has a gear ratio of 6.77 which gives an engine rpm of 9478 at 1400RRPM. Is this too far out of the comfortable power band? I read one of your posts on HF stating the engines rapidly lose power below 12000rpm. The heli handles better in the 1600rpm range. Im not sure if 1600-1700 is too much for 810 blades.

Paul.

currently set for 1450, 1550, and 1650 rpm using the 810 blades

I changed the gear ratio to 8:1 so the engine is turning much faster at these RPMs

the model flies well its just big and heavy. I'll eventually get some video

THEN I'll be converting it to a 3 blade main and tail rotor

Thanks Carey

I think I will try 1600-1700rpm. I have a feeling the rpm's in the manual are for the original ratio used on the flybar model. I'm not sure the motor is in as happy range at 1400-1500rpm.

Just thought I would post this table for anyone interested. It is a comparison between the gear ratio for the two available versions of this heli. I have included tail rotor RPM just for reference.

JR GSR 260Z Gear Ratio.

GSR260Z (flybar) 8.00
GSR260Z FBL Sport 6.77

ERPM ERPM TRRPM
RRPM @6.77 @8.00 @5.18

1400 9,478 11,200 7,252
1450 9,816 11,600 7,511
1500 10,155 12,000 7,770
1550 10,493 12,400 8,029
1600 10,832 12,800 8,288
1650 11,170 13,200 8,547
1700 11.509 13,600 8,806
1750 11.847 14,000 9,065
1800 12,186 14,400 9,324

Hi Carey,

Will you be trying this pipe:

https://rcjapan.net/funtech-muffler-...8f75p68f1o06h2

Seems it might physically fit all Zenoah motors?

I have invaded the whole attic with all the heli/machine/computer stuff. Wife is complaining about that because she wanted turn the attic into a second living room. My guess is that you have much more stuff than me and counting. I need a second attic and you'll need another garage I guess

Default After market fuel tank

Hi:

I am on mission on how to extend the flight of a JR GSR260Z. My main obstacle now is how to increase the fuel capacity. I captured this picture from youtube video. The picture shows that the fuel tank on that heli is not a standard JR fuel tank. Fuel tank is extended to the bottom and on the right side. Seems that at least 300CC added to the fuel tank capacity over the stock fuel tank. Hope somebody can direct me where to get this fuel tank.

Thanks
Andre

I have no ideal where to find that fuel tank. That said you can just strap aux jugs on to the side. Just about any jug will due fine. Connect your fuel lines and you're good to go.

Think of them as really large header tanks.

I have made some changes to my machine recently. A new dual LiPo triple RX from JR and the XG14 TX. After increasing the TAGS "I" gain and "Hold" gain I have noticed a big difference in flying characteristics. Nicely locked in with an incredible hover. This helicopter is fantastic. The other change which had a positive effect was reducing the dead-band from 3us to 1us. This works very well with the XG14's beautiful sticks. The Fun Tech B326 muffler is also great, very smooth power and a very much smoothed out and quieter note.

This is the current setup:

Mechanical:
Airframe: JR GSR260Z FBL Sport
Engine: Zenoah G260PUH
Carburetor: Walbro 644 with DDM Racing insulator and Miniature Aircraft Air Filter
Spark Plug: NGK CR7HIX 3485 Iridium IX
Exhaust: Fun Tech B326
Main Blades: JR XB810
Tail Blades: Edge SE115
Main gear and pinion: 6.77:1

Electrical and Electronic:
Receiver: JR RG1131BPU (RA01TL x1, RA01L x2)
FBL controller: JR TAGS01v2
Governor: Futaba GY701
Governor sensor: Stator Gator
Head speed settings: 1550-1650rpm
Cyclic servos: JR MPH83SWV
Tail servo: JR MPH83GWV
Throttle servo: JR DS8355 through JR REG-01SR
RX & Servo power: 2s4400 Gens Ace x 2.
Battery Monitor: JR telemetry
Power switch: JR RG1131BPU
TX used: JR XG14 DMSS mode 3

Fuel and field equipment:
Fuel, oil, and ratio: 98 Octane gas, Motul Go Kart 40:1
Fueling system: Fuel cap from a 5L fuel container
Starting Method: stock pull starter

Add ons: JR Sylphide fins, JR alloy boom support and JR alloy tail grips.
