We'll see what you have to say when you have to position those shims during reassembly.

Put a bit of grease on them to keep them from dropping out and you should be fine, Nick.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm curious as to how to replace these bearings. I understand how the tail comes apart, but how easy is it to get the bearings to come out. Do you need an arbor press? Need to add green locktite on reinstallation?

I use a small, flat punch set onto the brgs' outer race and tap it with my ball link pliers. Doesn't take much effort at all. To install new ones, I "press" them in with smooth jawed pliers making sure the brg. is started STRAIGHT. I've never lok-tited them in, but it can't hurt...

Just stick the tail case in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes ... take it out and the bearings should only need a light tap to fall out. If they need more, stick 'em back in the freezer for another 15 minutes, take 'em out, and apply heat to the tail case and that should do the trick.

To install them, simply use something flat that will apply pressure to the flange and not the race.

No. I meant freezer. Always try cold first before heat.

It works most of the time.
