Question Question on setup after moving to advanced swash setup.

Obviously I'm new to the hobby and I was hoping some experienced pilots could tell me if it is common to have to re-trim the bird after changing the ball links from the short to the long control arms on the swash. I'm using a DX6i and I had to add about 1/4 of the trim to the aft pitch and a little less to the starboard trim. I'm just wondering if this is pointing to an alignment problem. Another data point, I did add the Microheli swashplate a few weeks ago, but had it hovering perfectly on the short balls before the change to the long. Also I have made sure the links are properly seated.

Thanks for any/all input.
K.

The answer is that, in theory, the longer control-arms on the swashplate make no difference to anything other than the throw they cause at the blades. However, nothing's quite that perfect and the smallest error in trim could be made worse (or better) by changing over. First, I'd have to say that whatever works to give proper trim works, so don't worry. It's not a surprise to find a small difference. Second, recheck your CoG etc. to ensure you aren't trying to trim fore/aft simply due to that being wrong.

Default Re Trim

This is normal.
One turn longer on both adjusters should bring the trim back in line for you.
I'm pretty sure that is what mine was out. Then you can ether clean it up with sub trim or trim as you like.

Default Thanks.

Thanks all.
I will try turning out the adjusters 1 turn and see if that helps bring the trim setting closer to center. BTW, I'm loving this new Microheli swash plate. I'm thinking of Rakon blade grips next.

Make sure the swashplate hub is fully seated and the 5-in-1 board screws are nice and snug before you adjust, since these items will affect trim.

Use the link heads, screw/unscrew them to the correct length to correct drift until it hovers in place with the trims zeroed out. Make sure you don't force the links on backwards. Small hole side faces OUT.

DO NOT USE Tx TRIM-- It will reduce cyclic response in one direction in high rate.
