Default Shaving the banshee

I did a first today, shaved the teeth off the 2nd stage belt (the large one)

I actually changed that belt not long ago to be sure it would not strip.

Going back a couple of weeks i fitted a 4535le motor on 24s, first flights were brutal and crazy. We had speed cup last week so lots of speed runs.

The other day the tail sounded strange, turns out the tail blades had collapsed internally (possibly from fighting torque of 4535 motor).

So i replaced tails and mains also as precaution

Then today looking back i felt it slightly down on power. Thought maybe from cold lipos

Within 30 secs coming out of power loop blades i could count them spinning! It was too late to low to the ground heli hit large weeds but still damaged canopy, frame, some bearings, blades, skids.

Rebuild has began had most
Parts just expressing some the frame and bits to restock.

Replacing all belts as precaution

So now i put back 4530 motor on 14s!

Bad to see that. Have you informed the Banshee guys? What I know, it shouldn't be possible to strip the 2nd stage belt.

Regards, Helmut

Yes i let them know. Normally i wouldnt mind but replaced that belt to stop this ahhhh

Too much torque for aggressive flying i think. Even tail blades collapsed inside

Wow!

Didn't realize you were on 24S. Would be great to know the difference. Was it faster? It definitely was fast

I assume 24S is a typo.

Sorry fat fingers only 14s.

The rail tail blades i heard strange noises from my heli when i check i can move tail blades (try to flex) and it makes crunching noise, they did not delaminate but broken inside for sure

That's pretty serious. Do you think that you had massive tail vibrations while running your tail blades at I'm guessing 14,000+ rpm, or maybe blade stall buffetting that just pummelled them?

The RotorTech tail blades are a lot lighter and should reduced any tail vibrations by quite a bit if that is the reason. Banshee recommends them in their manual.

I wonder how 96mm rotortech will go at 1800rpm? My tail gains are fairly low compared to most 700, the tail ratio is 5.5:1

I run my Rail 96 tails at 1750 with low gains and have no issues...

Mr Banshee has been flying fine, done around 6 flights on it since rebuild.

Put some rail 716mm on it and flying really well.

Ive decided to get a new "hairdo" as the wife calls it, insane canopy job custom, banshee is sending a blank white canopy, cant wait to see the result!
