I have the 455 on a yge160 and i'm still dialing in myself. running 12 on pwm and started at 18 on timing and now backed down to 12. still may be too high but i don't want to do much until i get my new gear and check it with a heat gun. it was very hot last time i flew it. my 505 will be here today but i'm running that one on a castle 160. i used the pwm calculator to get 12 and the esc is running cool.

EDIT: Only thing about the timing is that 18 is what yge considers the lowest setting for out runner motors. 0-12 is for in runners.

i'm not sure about the auto timing. i looked over a few older post last night and there is mention of an issue with the auto timing when using external governor mode.

If you haven't seen it already Patrick mentioned the auto timing on this thread - https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...=602442&page=4

I have but they are talking Kosmik auto timing with the Kosmik internal governor. After reading the yge thread again auto timing and external governor is a yge issue regardless what motor.

No worries. Would be so much easier if timing numbers were universal. I would start at 12 pwm and 18 timing. See what the esc and motor temps are then maybe drop to 10 on pwm.

Same here in SC. It's getting pretty old (temp fluctuations and rain/ice)!

weather was crappy. i did get a flight in. had the esc set to 10pwm and 18 timing. took some temp readings and some info down. going out today with the only change being 12pwm. gonna see how that works.

The sweet spot seems to be 10pwm and 18 for timing. motor never got above 130, esc and batteries were 15 degrees above ambient temp which was 60 degrees.
this new 505 motor is noticeably more powerful than my 495 . it maybe a combo of a new esc and new motor or something, but it is very noticeable. before i had a HW120 and the KDE 495. now i have YGE160HV and the 505. night and day difference.!!

Sweet. I get to fly both my 455 and 505 tomorrow. New tail blades and clips came in today as well as my replacement castle link. After 4 days of cold rain and snow it's supposed to be sunny and 60's.

Yep, same here! 10 and 18, and this motor is virtually unboggable. It totally transformed my heli from its previous Scorp Ultimate. And, like the post above. I have another running on 14s in my Gob 800 that had the previous 495kv version, and wow!

Thanks guys for the recommendations with the YGE series, I'll pass on these findings to other customers as well to run PWM = 10 kHz and Timing = 18 Deg. It varies greatly between different brand of controllers, but this sounds about right for the G3 series.

As a reference, been flying the KDE700XF-505-G3 with the Kontronik KOSMIK 200 on auto-timing and reviewing the data logs, the motor runs in a hover at 8 Deg, and then shifts between 5 and 30 Deg. throughout the flight, depending on the load. 18 Deg. is right at the average for the flight, so this seems to be optimal for the "static" setting for other controllers.

I'm running the 455 on 14s with the yge set to 12pwm and 18 timing. Esc isn't warm at all and motor is landing at 135

Thanks for posting this. I am running my 455 on 14s In my TriaBolo 800 and my 505 on 14s also in my 813 SHS Goblin. I also compared them with running 12s. Then another 505kv in my Gob 700. I have played around with every pwm and timing aspect for these to get them tuned to their individual setups. This week I am also ordering one of the discounted older 395kv motors from HD and playing with it on 14s also. All using the Yge 160hv with sink.
