Default Sk720be windows 8 USB not recognized

Hi freaks please can you help me get the sk720be working on my windows 8 lappy. When I plug the USB lead in to my sk720 I get the USB not recognized. Is there a driver I need to run on laptop if so where can i find it??

I had to disable driver signing to get my ikon unit to work and that works fine now but with the sk720 there does not seem to be a driver to install so I am at a loss

At the minute I am having to use my windows 7 desktop to program my unit but that's not practical i want it on my laptop please help me guys thanks

Yes I think all the USB ports are usb3/blue colour. But I thought that the ports was ok with USB 1 and 2 as all my other USB devices work fine on the usb3 ports

I don't have any USB 2.0 ports what are my options ???

I would start by buying a USB 2.0 "hub" and plug it into your USB 3.0 port. The laptop should "downshift" to the USB 2.0 hub's speed. Then plug the SK-720 into the hub.

In my case there has been NO driver installed thus windows gives the not recognized warning.

I emailed Skookum and NO response. If there are ANY Skookum reps out there, please help in this manner. They need just the driver download for these types of issues....

I have dealt with the old Vbar drivers not being signed on Win 7. Not my first rodeo here.

It would be great to get some product support on this.

Just had this problem and found a workaround for me.

Plug in the SK720, windows will not recognize it. Go to the device manager and select the not recognized skookum usb device (under usb devices), right click and uninstall it. Then search for new hardware in the device manager. This time the SK720 will be recognized just fine.

I think the problem could be related to too high currents during the initialization of the SK720.

Just today I tried using a nice long 6+ foot USB cable as it beats having to crawl on the ground like an animal.

No dice. I'm not sure if the USB standard gives a limit to the length of cables but the only solution for me was to use a normal 3 footer.

I just upgraded to Win 10 and still have the same problem. I believe that the current USB drivers don't work with USB 3. I added a USB 2 card to this PC, and use that one to connect to the units. I have a laptop with Win 8.1 and both USB connectors. The USB 2 ports work, while the USB 3 port does not. Art promised a new USB driver with the next update of the PC setup software. And, USB C is on the way, so who knows.

What is odd is I do have one Black that sees the Win 10 3.0 port, but my others don't. All of the rest need the adapter to work. Three blacks, one blue 720 and a new 540. Hmm, I should try my old Sk360 and see if it connects?

I'm running win 10 with a usb 2 hub. The unit seems to communicate for a long time with the computer (read/write type of rapid blinking) before it finally starts slow blinking and I can program it. It will occasionally revert to that behavior during setup, and I just have to wait it out. I can't tell you why it works this way. Occasionally I'll get the messages that it needs repair, but I ignore those. Dan
