Motor rotation direction
How do I determine if the motor is rotating in the correct direction? The motor is already installed in the heli. Should I just use a super low throttle setting and start it up on the bench (without blades of course)?

Would need another's expertise to chime in if running brushed electric or internal combustion (nitro or gasser).

What heli is it?
For the most part (brand & clone helis) the rotor spins clockwise. Just check the head's rotation according to your manual / other of same make ect. On real ones it depends on manufacturer, sometimes American, British Italian and German made helis spin CCW while French and Russian go CW. http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question...s/q0212b.shtml Yes...... do a very subtle ramp up without the blades to see how it spins. On electric helis, if you want to reverse it, just swap any two wires on your ESC/Motor connection. Hope this helps some

Thanks for the info. Yes, it's brushless. It's the Lynx motor that comes with the Oxy 3 (clockwise rotor). It's my first heli, which I've been building and setting up over the last couple of months. Now almost done, but still not ready to fly. Need more time on the simulator.

Yeah spinning up without the main and tail blades is perfectly safe it doesn't go anywhere. Don't leave the tail blades on thinking the mains are the only problem or you may make the heli in to a spinning out of control top
With both off though it's cool it doesn't go anywhere. Also a great tip someone told me when first starting out is that the trailing edge of the tail blade always goes in the direction of the radio input so if you hit your rudder stick right the sharp edge of the tail blade will go right. I always messed that up until someone pointed that out. So if it's wrong you may want to look at your rudder chan to make sure it's going in the correct direction. Btw great choice the Oxy 3 is a blast you're doing it right without going through garbage heli's that fly terrible. It's a perfect flying machine that will help you overcome some bad stick movements without losing control.
