Walkera 22E Suspected Receiver Problems

Hey guys I have a Walkera 22E that we've finally decided to get up and running again after a few failed attempts at flying (bought it about 5 years ago). Now that we have a better understanding of the learning processes required to learn a 3D chopper we tried doing a couple of trials and exercises. Now we have found that the heli is very selective on what commands it receives and powers on and off without warning and stops listening to the transmitter. We suspect the receiver is dodgy because the on board LED flashes occasionally while powered on meaning there is no signal being received. These antics also continue when the transmitter is off leading us to believe the receiver is faulty and not the transmitter. Should we just replace the receiver?

Replace the heli. Just my opinion. I had that heli as my first bird and wasted a fair amount attempting to get it solid. Never could. Always had tail drifting issues and was extremely squirrely. I'm not sure how much a rx for it is but if I were advising a non local friend I would tell them to use the money they were going to spend on it towards a used dx6 and download the trial version of heliX and marks heli sim and then (or maybe at the same time) get a small blade cp heli like a nano cps.

If you decide to work on the 22e and have trouble finding the 3 in 1. You might try to find one for an Eagle 50. Same heli. When you do eventually move to another heli you will be amazed at the difference in stability. I sure was.

I had one where one of the wires on the rudder potentiometer was barely connecting, so when you move the stick a certain way, you would lose control (I think it affected all the channels and the light on the front of the Tx would go out-it has been a long time).

It actually flew pretty well for a while after that.

There are quite a few better machines out there, but these do fly...

This was my first heli about 5 years ago and it was so erratic on the controls I almost gave up in learning. Once you get a real solid heli the learning will become fun. Honestly, trash it and buy a new one with real servos, decent links and a good transmitter. Will be obvious why once you get it.
