Default blade shims on 500se

Hello guys
im a new (and happy) owner of a logo 500se (used)
i have switch from 7HV to logo recently and im new in mikado mechanics.

the ex owner send me some blade shims but its really hard to fits them
(seems the EDGE 603mm fits perfectly without shims)
my question is :
is it really needed to put blade shims on this bird ? (as the blade grips are not aluminium on logos)

thanks for all !

I am pretty sure the SE still uses the 12mm blade grips like the regular 500 so you won's need the blade shims.

Yes, you don't have to use shims

Hi,
No shim should be needed with Edge, and it looks this is the only brand that fits perfectly.

I'm currently using SAB and there's no way to tight them the way I'd like to, while supplied shims won't fit. I'm getting mad at this as I already had two boom strikes from bad autos (mech failures).

Apologies for hijacking the OT

Interesting, i've owned 550 sized blades from EDGE, SAB red devil's, Rotortech, and Maniac and all of them were a direct fit with the stock blade grips. Maybe SAB has changed their sizing on the newer blades?

I've tried to retrieve the thread and wasn't able.

Anyway, the blades fit, it is just that I can't tight them the way I'd like to, no matter how much I tight the screw.

As a comparison I measured the root of my 550: 11.80mm ca. Can someone measure a pair of Edge? .20 could explain the fact ...

Just shim it if you need to. You can make very thin ones out of plastic milk cartons or any other handy plastic container.

I'll give it a try, never thought about making shims by myself (the ones provided are too thick).
Thanks

i have edges on my 500se and even though i can snug down the grips i always got a lot of wobble on spool up. added some very thin shims to top and and bottom and now spool up is butter smooth!
