Default Regulator question

Im running a 2s Lipo pack to power my 540. Is a step down voltage regulator required for the rudder servo?

That depends on your servo. If your servo is HV and rated for 8V, then you are fine. If not, you'll likely stress it and possibly burn it up.

Reading the spec sheet gives the answer:

"Power Supply: 4.8V (Futaba does NOT recommend using 6V)"

So yes, 8.4V is bad. You must regulate to 5V.
