Default Perfect Regulators 130x?

Is this a good way to test out night flying? Im really curious about night flying but I don't want to drop a bunch of money and hate it. From the looks it's just an led on the tail rotor and under the canopy. So it won't look like the really nice rigs you guys have.

I just havent found anyone local so I cant ask to try theirs

I enjoy my Perfect Regulators kits. I have both the body and blade kit on an mcpx-bl

and I'm running just a blade kit, with a canopy/tail setup of my own doing on the 130x.

The 130x is overweight and needs more motor as I got a little extravagant with the canopy/tail LEDs. Even with the stock setup you will notice the extra weight on a micro. It flies a little like a low headspeed setup. The BL, with its extra power in stock form, is a little better platform for the night setup.

That doesn't look too bad actually. I thought the tail might look weird with just an led there, but it looks like it might light up the blades

The key to the tail rotor working well is making sure your tail blades allow some light to pass through them. Lighter colors seem to work better too. The UV LED really works well with yellow blades. Dark shades don't work at all. I haven't tried it with my white 130x tail blades, maybe I'll do that.

Also, the other LED is not under the canopy, but rather inside it. The stock blade canopies are translucent enough to let the light shine through. The main blades have their own tiny batteries, but the canopy and tail LEDs plug into the back of the 130x battery connector.

Unless he's changed it, you will have to make yourself a charging harness for the blades. I made mine out of tiny radio shack alligator clips and pulled the plug off an old 1s lipo to parallel charge it with my existing 1s setup. If I were doing that again I'd use the pigtail off an old 130x lipo and have it think both blades are a single 2s pack.

I like to fly the yellow/greenish color ones. Or white. So I hope it works
