Has anyone thought about ordering a new kit ($500) and parting out for spares? I'd personally like the electronics (ESC/Motor/Servos), frames and blades.

Are there parts that folks want/need to warrant parting out a kit?

Thoughts?

When the occasional $435 deal comes around I've thought of doing this. I think it would be awesome. Since I plan to keep this heli for the 'long haul' I bet I'd use every part eventually. If you bought each part separately I bet it would be 3X the cost.. think of the servo gears, canopy, metal parts etc...

I don't absolutely need the servos or blades. What's left? How about the entire head, tail, canopy, etc. The TT upgrade set is an $85 upgrade alone (retail). This prob the kind of split for someone who wants to use the airframe and their own electronics.

Just an idea. I'll prob get a new kit for spares anyway but would obviously rather have some of it sold to mitigate the cost a bit.

I was thinking of doing that also. I have the time right now to do all the paper work and keep track of what people want.
There was one or two people on ebay that was selling new to almost new parts that way I think.

If you can find the kits just under $500 that would make it doable.

Shef, I guess I would need PM's from people to what they want. Would have to price the kit out and see what is left. Just do not want to end up with a lot of parts now wants.

Exactly!! doubt you'll need an extra batt mount/bottom bracket/Rx mount

Aside from those, I'm sure I'll need a spare of everything else at some point in the future, which is why I might just get a whole one.

i would be interested but i live in UK.

I want the complete frame without the electronics, canopy and main blades for $200 + the cost to send them to London, UK (cheapest way).

This will get you main blades + 3 servos + esc + motor + canopy for $235

How does this sound ?

(please note that i don't need all these parts... i need some of them... thats why i can offer up to 200 max)

I hear you, but I don't think that $435 deal is there right now....lowest I see is $490 +$20 shipping on eBay.

That maybe the best idea is just buy a kit and sell off what you do not want.
I think it will be to hard to do a group buy.

I went through all of the completed listing once on eBay on someone that was parting out a kit. I think the total came in at $430 in sales. The only major part I saw missing at the time was the blades. I decided it was not worth my while, and dealing with all of the shipping did not sound fun.

I just keep my eye on parts there, and try to snag up the deals. I bought the metal tail servo mounts for $2.49 yesterday, but with 4.96 shipping it is close to full retail.

Yes, sounds like a hassle if it's going to be more than two or three people participating in the purchase.
