Default New E-Raptor 600

After I tried out my new Trex 600, I decided to see what it would take to convert one of my Raptor 50 nitro burners to electric. It was surprisingly easy. The parts from TT cost less than $90.00 US, I got a Z-Power 30A from Gary Goodrum (TP Packs), and I decided to use the same Castle 80 and Align BEC I use in the Trex.

I set my Raptor up to run 600 mm blades and with as close to the same head speed as my Trex on 6 cells, so that meant a 10 tooth pinion. I use the DX7 on all my electrics and it has been rock solid.

I only have the one test flight, but I like the end product. I am running the same TP 6 cell 5000mah packs in both helis (for economy's sake). I also exchanged the old Raptor bleach bottle canopy for a Trex 600 canopy (the fiberglass is lighter) becasue I like the looks better. For the rest, I simply pulled the old head and tail parts from the nitro frame and am using them as is. There was lots of Quick UK stuff on these pieces and I like it.

The weather has been crazy around here, so I haven't had a chance to really try these machines head to head, but that one flight was cool. I am not a 3D guy - just someone who enjoys watching my toys fly.

Nice Ron, the TT FRP canopy is lighter than the bleach bottle also.

I have been playing with the Z30 on 8s in the E-620, gets a bit warm when pushed really hard, but for mild 3d and sport flying its not too bad.

Thanks for the info.

It looks like one of the benefits of the E-Rappie is its ability to run more than six cells. Right now, I have a lot invested in my six cell packs, but it's nice to know I could go for more later.

I picked up a Century 600 Plus motor the other day and still have one Raptor 50 sitting in the basement. If that Hyper 50 craps out one more bearing.....
