Default Flying holding tx behind him

I'm not sure I believe this, but the guy is flying holding his tx behind him. Go into the video about 2:25 minutes to see it. Then he does a pie dish around himself!

ill give the guy points for having skill, however he looses all of that and gets awarded negative points IMO for being a DUMB-ASS! obviously the guy has never bothered to google rc helicopter injuries or has never had a close call with blades moving in excess of 2000 rpm's....ive had two close calls since ia started flying helis and those close calls have been enough to put the fear of god in me and now i wont fly any closer than 5 feet from me at any time...

all it would have taken is a mech. failure of a random slip of the stick and hed be in a world of hurt. i could see doing circlea around ones self, which even then its a bad idea, but this dummy is doing pie-dishes which means the helicopter is actually angled toward him!!.... this video ranks right up there with some of the all time dumbest things you could do with an r.c helicopter

Why is flying with the radio behind you any different then in front of you? Doesn't make any sense. I have flown with the radio behind me and it feels the same, just an awkward position.

This is a longshot, but I got the impression that maybe he programmed a switch to lock his heli into a pie dish. Is that possible?

I won't argue he's pushing way past safe limits and, in that sense, he's a dumbass. It's just weird and seems almost impossible for someone to do what he did. I have a hard enough time doing a pie dish with the tx in front of me.

That isn't amazing at all. Do a search for Raquel Bellot (sp?), she does real 3D with the tx behind her back.

Probably the only thing in this hobby that is easier than it looks.
Give it a go on the sim and you'll find it's not that hard.

+1 This is the first thing that I thought about when reading this thread. Raquel is pretty amazing!

I don't know how he got the guts to try that so close, but it could definitely turn bad very fast!

in all honesty holding the tx behind your back is no more than a gimick, doesnt change a single thing, do you look at your tx when its in front of you?

The guy doesn't have so much headspeed so maybe that is why he isn't so scared to fly so close.

A woman doing anything on here sure does get attention. I would love seeing a woman on a motorcycle...it would always get my attention.

Henry Caldwell also can fly just as hard with the TX behind his back as he can with it in front. I have seen him do it many times over the years and I am sure I have taped it as well. Let me see if I can find some footage.

Ok so its kinda impressive to watch but as someone who has had stitches due to inexperience its nothing short of DUMB. But I guess it takes an accident to breed respect for these helis they are no different to flying power tools and i wouldnt let anyone throw a disc cutter thru my legs LOL

Who is this Henry fella you speak of ?? Flying with the Tx behind your back isnt all that difficult it just takes a bit of getting use to, i fail to see how it makes flying a heli any more or less dangerous.

Obviously, this guy has a good handle on his heli. He does some very nice and precise flying. I don't think he got to this level of flying without some respect for the machine and an awareness of the danger thereof.

Why is it that Evil Knievel can go 100mph and jump a motorcycle 133ft and everyone cheers, but someone flies a trex 450 a foot away from themselves and everyone scorns?
