Found out late last night during my tail tear down, an older version align esp tail slider is a direct fit. Had a couple new ones laying in my parts collections and my tail is already back in service. This time lubed with diamond lube. Found a half off sale at fleabay on a set of four ceramic bearings to rebuild the factory tail slider hub. Most my other helis running on abec 9 versions have well over 600+ flights on them and are still running tight and smooth.

.

Maidened my 550.

Lovely needs a little tuning on head and tails gains if I contunue to fly at lower head speeds, 1650, and 1750. I expect at 1850 it should smooth right out.

Car door closed while I pulled my Diabolo out
Led to a dent and scratch in the tail boom, but luckily not bad enough to require a repair.

Maidened my new 700.

I put a pyro 750 with a helijive and jlog 2.6 in it.

I was surprised that it actually flies very similar to my 1st diabolo 700 that has a pyro 700 and a jive pro.

Both helicopters are very light weight which I really enjoy.

Got to fly the 550 again after about a month of being too busy to fly. Took about 3 seconds to remember just how good it is, love that heli.

I took the Triabolo out Sunday, after having not flown at all for a couple weeks. It was also a bit windy and gusty so the Tri was the best heli for the conditions.

I have to say, I am so pleased with how efficient the setup is now. I have a Dekker Pyro 700, 530kv, 13 tooth TDR pinion, idle-1 headspeed is approx 1300. I'm flying for 7 minutes on 4000mah packs and still have nearly 40% left (I will say, that % is from the el cheapo lipo checker device so it's not super accurate but it's a fair indicator for checking at the field).

I have a confession to make. Season ended for me in august when I moved to a different part of the country to continue my studies. Total flight time since August 2015 on the Triabolo 800 (or any other models for that matter) = 0 hours 0 minutes. I feel so dirty. My Tri is decked out with a pretty nice setup in my opinion, Kosmik, X-Nova 4535 etc. etc.. It makes it even worse. It was so nice to fly and everything.

0 minutes. I haven't even unfolded the blades since last flight in 2015. I feel so bad for not having time for the hobby anymore...

Nice! My wife is a huge supporter, but I am still working on getting her to try.

Default Maiden attempt

Attempted a maiden flight of my first Diabolo and first 700 today.
Just as it spooled up to about 50% he, I heard a popping sound and watched as the ESC spewed smoke and flames
Luckily, the canopy was off and the fire was contained to just the ESC.
Hopefully Castle will send me a new one.

Woah. No damage to the frame where it was attached! That’s got to be disappointing. Sorry to hear!

Thanks!
No damage to anything else, thankfully. Could've been so much worse. In hindsight, keeping the canopy off probably let the heat escape much easier.
