Default Picking receivers?

Looked around and couldn't find a good answer so here goes. I recently bought a Trex-500 and I currently have a Dx6i. I have no plans of upgrading to a 7-8 channel Tx in the immediate future. My question is 2 parts, a) what is a the best recommended Spektrum Rx and b) Do I need one with a "satellite" antenna?

I have been running a 6100 on mine no problems yet. It might be safer with one with a sat your call

Although some people do fly with a 6100 and have no problems it is highly recommended to use something with a sat. 6200, 7000, etc.

I've been leaning on getting one with a sat. I want to take no chances of losing control of this bird due to a reception issue!

any thoughts on this being a bad selection?

is your DX6i DSMX or DSM2 i know they talk about backwards compadable but i would call horizon and ask them if you got a DSM2 radio, my new radio i can choose either DSMX or DSM2 for each model. i would imagine that it makes a difference which mode i am running it in for what kind of receiver i have..

but if that works with your radio that that is a very good RX, if you dont have the sat you could loose connection easier on a 500 or bigger size.

Well I'm a noob, so can anyone answer whether my Dx6i DMS2 work with that DSMX receiver? I can call horizon on Monday but if it's a quick answer, I'd appreciate it! Thanks for the info guys!

dsmx is completely backwards compatible. i have a dsm2 dx7 that is running with an ar6210 dsmx 6 channel reciever never had a single problem. Now if you upgrade your transmitter to dsmx then its not backwards compatible with dsm2 recievers.
