Q regarding antenna length
I have two nCPX RX board.
One has an antenna length of 33.50mm The other has an antenna length of 31.60mm I thought these being 2.4ghz, the antenna length needed to be a certain length to work effectively. Considering the variances...does it mean that it doesn't matter. Close enough is good enough with these heli? Anybody have any insight into this? What's the antenna length on yours. Optimally, what should it be? |

I'll take that as, close enough is good enough. LOL
Had some problem with the new bird losing range and dropping out of the sky. Wasn't very far away from me either. Seen others report similar issue. So I figured I'll pose the question in the OP in case it's related to inconsistent antenna length. |

Hehe, I admit my reply wasn't exactly helpful but it was too funny to resist. Since your bird drops out of the sky maybe there is something to it, I wouldn't know. All i can think of is lvc. But I do now the fpv pilots are pretty amped on antenna designs, building their own and all. Not sure what forum they're at though.

The antenna should be roughly 1/4 wavelength. A little bit shorter or longer shouldn't make much difference. Heck, some have reported flying an mCP X without the antenna on the main board. However, I'd make sure it is about 1/4 wavelength. See here to calculate:
