Default Blade Grip Flip

This is how I did the Blade Grip Flip:

Remove the main blades. Flip the upper mixer by installing the flybar see-saw reverse of stock. Flip the blade grips. Flip the lower mixer. Install main blades. In the swash mix menu, reverse the pitch value to exact opposite value. Now check pitch and throws, you may need to level the washout arms and flybar cage. See the attached picture it sums it up better than words.

Many thanks to Sokal and Roto-Rob (RCGroups).

Feel free to add to this thread, I know some do this mod different.

SkunkyMagoo,

The heli is more responsive because the leading edge of the rotor is being controlled instead of the trailing edge.

its more responsive because thier not much load on the servos to move the blades
and capable of controling the blade changes faster

but will do this mod very soon

Oh trust me, I am not doing anything at all. Just trying to learn the ropes...these things are way different than planks...I just like to suck information in as it passes by.

My videos would be rather boring. I can do basic forward flight, circles and a few piros. But hey, I've crashed several times now and I'm getting better at rebuilding/troubleshooting!!

Default Thanks RedFire.

I see this thread was active sometime in mid June of 2008. I wonder if anyone is/was reading things about the 400 other than me these days. The 400 is dc'ed as well as the 450. Some used ones left here and there.

I am here because I picked up a 400 and 450 on the cheap. I was just reading about 400 stuff since I found a crack in the tail rotor case on the 450 (BLH1663), and I wanted to replace it correctly or whatever else ya'll might recommend. I bumped into youthflyer's post about all the mods he and his dad made. One was the grip/mixer flip. I could not get a clear picture about this mod, being green, not only in knowledge, but with envy as well for the flying skills I have seen, especially youthflyer, who totally rocks. Inspirational still, even after all the improvement he must have made over the last 8 yrs. or so.

But after much grief, long hours of searching and re-reading post after post, with your picture RedFire my lights finally came on . Thanks! I get it. All of it.

I suppose I will post this over in youthflyer's spot as well. I hope some of you drop by again, even though you are crashing different birds now. Just joking, I am sure all of you are good enough by now that you never crash anymore. Right! Well all the info here will likely save me a dozen or more.

Smile Blade 400 still Flying

I have a 400, stock except for the obvious needed upgrades. Stronger cyclic servos, a BEC to power them, and a Futaba GY520 Gyro. Oh, and I got the new DSMX receiver. I just got a Blade 450X so I think, I will sell the 400 and my 120SR.
