So it refuses to use the regenerative discharge. I wish I could help you with specifics, but i don't have a PowerLab.

But the iChargers let you set a max voltage for the battery you are regeneratively charging. Is there a setting like that for the PLs? Something that might somehow be set to a max regenerative battery voltage of 11.6V, for instance?

It will work.. it took some effort but I did get it! I have no idea how now. Probably used the PC adapter if I remember. Sorry I sold mine a long time ago.

Yes. The default is 14.4v. When the Pb battery reaches this voltage, the charger will switch to internal discharge. I would verify that its still set to 14.4v. Next check is that regen is listed as an option on the console when selecting the charge cycle. I can give more details when I get home. Finally during the charge I would watch the source screen. Verify that the Pb battery is not starting at 11.6v and shooting up to 14.4v as soon as the discharge starts. This is common when the discharge current is set fairly high.

Scroll through the screens and make sure that you see the regen text seen in the attachments. If you don't see these, the charger is not in regen mode.

Default PL6 regen discharge help

It uses the Pb as the power source but discharges internally. I stuck a volt meter on the Pb and it ain't in the 13-14v being charged..

If you have the USB adapter, I'd like to see a screen shot of your supply tab. Watch the supply screen on the charger as it first starts up, it displays the supply voltage and the supply current. The supply voltage should be close to your DVM reading. After about 40 seconds the discharge cycle will start. Does the display show any current is flowing on the supply screen? Does the supply voltage increase at all?

Option 3 :High power

initialising:

internal discharge:

Battery voltage stays at 12.1. R. disappears and the fan kicks in on the charger and internal discharge begins...

If you have the USB adapter, I'd like to see a screen shot of your supply tab. It'd be helpful to get a log of the discharge.

Just an update.

Managed to get a PC connector and had a clean-up with the presents, anyway plugged it in and the regen discharging function works now.... not sure why it's working now but it works, I haven't done anything different.

Maybe enabling the power source option when it turns on?

many thanks for the help.

cheers

PS I selected PB flooded deep cycle (under battery source) - maybe that made the difference?

I bet that was it.. since the charger will never try to push voltage back in to a power supply.

Under 'Options' of the CCS, select 'Choose Power Source at Startup' under Start Settings. This will then prompt you each time the charger is turned on for you to select if it is PSU or Battery. This is helpful if you change back and forth often.
