Replace the one way bearing with a Boca FC-12...they are pricey,
but it'll never lock again and they last forever.

A guy at our club had his one way lock up all the time. He fixed it by enabling soft start in the esc.

Boca FC12 is just an NSK FC12 clone which may be available locally.

I've had good luck wit the KDE Direct one-way. That Boca one-way looks pretty stout. Will have to try the Boca when I run out of my spare KDE's. The Align's would lock up every flight (soft start enabled)...tried 3 of them before giving up.

I locked up a KDE one-way in less than 10 flights. Cheap crap bearing.

Hmmm, only had one ever lock up after not replacing after a crash (broken cage). Been using the KDE one-ways for 2 yrs now flying pretty hard 3D governed @ 2400 RPM so the one-way is being worked hard.

Yes, good luck with the KDE. Please give us your feedback.
I found some other solutions since last year but didn't had time to try it:

After trying all the "fixes", all the "special cleaning", "special lubrication" formulas and replacing the Align 1-way bearings on my 600N & 600E several times, I used the KDE replacement on both.

I am still waiting (100+ flights) for the KDE to fail.
So, I would guess they are not so bad after all.

I ordered the Boca FC-12 last night. I'm not willing to risk the heli for the sake of saving $15.

I haven't had a one-way bearing lock up on me yet. I did have a main gear snap on me once and was quite ugly.

When a one way bearing starts locking up, does that mean it and the one way sleeve is getting worn out enough for the one way to fail completely, as in slipping with no power to the blades. I've had a 450 do that and bring me down. I don't want that to happen to the 550 so I ordered the BOCA replacement. Mine has started locking up every flight almost.

I'm wondering if its slipping already a little, I'm getting a strange puf puf puf noise almost like a tiny exhaust leak on a car and haven't been able to pin it down. All the other bearings, motor included have been checked and bad ones replaced.

As per my post, I have installed the KDE one way bearing on my 600 but haven't flown it too much, landed a good deal on a 550 therefore it's getting all of the airtime.

Cheers,

Gord.

I you beat the crap out of your heli and land immediately, 90% of the time you'll find the one way bearing locked on T-rex 550/600, no matter the brand of the bearing.

If you cruise around at low head speed for 30sec or so before landing, there's no lock-up.

I fly Align 550/600 airframe since my beginning in 2009 and I never had any problem with this, sometime it's locked, sometime not, I just ignore it.

I've built a 550 coaxial that use 2 X 550/600 one way bearing in the drive train, and if my ''rudder gain'' and ''start/stop gain'' is too high (my rudder gyro are controlling both motor and esc) that put a very high stress on the drivetrain, when I land both one way are firmly locked, much more than what I've seen on regular 550/600, but once tuned properly, there's no more lock-up at all.

Can you post a picture of that coaxial? Sounds pretty neat!
