Replacing the main frame
Greeting freakers,
Last week I had a small "gardening" mishap with the CB100... The main rotor hit some plant leaves and caused the CB100 to fall on the hardwood floor. Normally these crashes don't really break anything, but this time I was unlucky and broke the main frame. I'm halfway through installing the replacement but I noticed that it is impossible to replace the frame without desoldering the tail motor connector (or the tail motor itself). Is there a trick to replacing the main frame more easily? Thanks, Ben. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure...

Unfortunately, that is how you must do it. You can route the tail motor wire on the outside of the boom next time, so it is easier to replace.

Thanks for confirming. I'm still evaluating which is less trouble, cutting the wire at the connector or the tail motor. I guess it's pretty much the same amount of work either way...

I just de-soldiered the connector that plugs into the ESC for the tail motor, then just re-soldiered later. I definitely agree with routing the wires externally, it's much easier to replace the tail boom or frame (which you will )
Hope that helps

I just finished replacing the main frame. In the end I desoldered the tail connector and when reassembling, routed the wires outside. Not a fun soldering job (though I was getting the hang of it by the third wire).
On the plus side, this allowed me to move the tail ESC to the front of the heli, so it's no longer visible... Of course as I spool up to test my repairs, I noticed that the main shaft was bent, so I'll have to go and replace that as well. Naturally I don't have a spare, so one more week of waiting for parts...
