Default Anyone using homemade chinese weights?

As the title says ,is anyone having luck with home made chinese weights?
I would like to know the weight and placement if you want to share.
I know Heim`s weights are great i had a set until damage. The problem i have is that when i order from the UK i always get hit with duty etc.The last set i got was double the cost when i paid the duty etc! it is too much.

I am using a 3500g on tail.
I am sure that i read the 500 needs loads of force to move standard tail setup.
Thought the 3500 was borderline.

Nope.... My 3500 and Spartan setup can do any 3D maneuver without issue, it goes fast backward, it piro flips and can do piro funneling eights, rolling circles front and backward. Now I can't do all that, but I had a Pro friend fly it, and I saw it do all that!

I just made my own by replacing the standard screws that hold the tail blades into the grips with some slightly longer ones and added some nuts at either end. With my standard Align DS520 servo it made a huge difference.

Nope not me, I can fly pretty fast backward, but you really don't know what the heli can do, till you see a guy like Alan or Bert fly it!

This is how I fly it!

DIY here also. Just adjust what bits you put in until you get an easy pull with self-centering still there...

Remember, Chinese weights are not there to make the tail fly better unless your servo is over worked with the tail design. On the 500 most tail servos can handle the load.
They are there to reduce the loads on the servo which DO exist regardless if it "flys just fine". In my opinion reducing the servo loads is just good sense all around.
Servo may last longer and amp draw from your BEC is much better for it.

Here are some photos of my home made solution. Hardware from ModelFixings.co.uk Total cost for some M3 SS Cap Screws and nuts was £1.60!
