Default What type of grease do you use?

Has anyone used Phil Wood waterproof grease on your helicopters? I got this tube at my local bicycle shop. He said that it has worked the best of any grease for them in the high load, high compression bearings on bicycles that they work on.

mmmm.

How is your sim flying doing. Did you get that 450 yet and link it up to your radio you purchased before you brought the heli.. Would have thought a few more ?'s asked about setting up that new heli there chief.

Also have you pm'd "brick" on your learning together? Lots of great info on this site especially targeting your setup. Just search grease and you will be surprised - just in case you try something that is not suited to the heli application.

Oh and I don't use any grease, at a guess bicycle grease would loose to much viscosity due to the high speeds but that's just my opinion...

Personally, I'm using Tri-flow red on the thrust bearings and Tri-flo synthetic on feathering shaft and owb. Scorpion oil on motor bearings, main and tail rotor shaft.

Whatever you choose, it should be synthetic on any grease that comes into contact with any plastic parts or dampeners.

I use MA synthetic hydrogen on the thrust bearings but I used to use Phil Wood grease when I rode BMX when I was younger. There was no better back then but it is not what I would use now, although it might have changed since then. I used to work on all my friends bikes and repack their hubs and rear hub with brakes with the PW grease all the time. Lot of fun back then.
