Looks better but it would be a shame to see, horizon hobby on any part of a tdr 2. Let's hope Jan gets the manufacturer to make custom henseleit versions.

Looks really heavy, sure that a simple 180 deg servo with some linkages will be lighter.

The whole package is 118g if you include the long steel strut and other things. I figure it should be near the weight of a servo by itself plus this is actually made to be landing gear.

The problem I have is that this actuator is designed to take loads when landing taking off when fitted to an aircraft, here it only actuates the legs so no need to be that sturdy and heavy, BUT I'm sure Jan will have a solution that is both simple, reliable and light.

What I'm sensing from the various comments is that no matter what his final solution is, a number of people are going to think it should have been done a different way.

The good thing about these retracts: it has a sturdy worm drive inside and locks in place at the endpoints without draining excess amps. A Servo could require more Amps holding the struts in place or some kind of locking mechanism would be required making it a little more complex. Additionally if you want no instant very fast extending and retracting you would need a transmitter with adjustable servo speed or a device inside the heli....

I think that retract will be a lot less complicated and more durable.

+1 but he should go with Behotec electric retracts to keep it local

The more pics I see the more I can't wait to build it. I think for now I am more excited about the prospect of building this helicopter rather than flying it.

Really tight. That has to be the most compact rc heli configuration to date.

It's going to be a job to work on
Maybe not for me and what I would use it for.

A very fine looking heli though.
