Exclamation Align 700n wide frame to DFC

Hi Guys,
I have Just Picked Up 3 Align 700 nitro helis from a friend that are the older style with the wider frame with the head with the washout arms.
I have a newer style 700n DFC and the frame is much more narrow with a ys120
Can I convert the older models to the DFC Head Without the WASHOUT Arms ?
Is it worth the effort ?
thanks,
John

Putting a dfc head on wont be a problem, plug and play. Is it worth the effort ? Depends whther you really want it or not. Takes about 20 mins

You can certainly convert the models to the DFC head.

Assuming they're equipped with either the Align 3G head or one of the older flybar heads, you will need the following at a minimum to convert them over:

-H70089A (DFC Conversion Set)
-HN7116 (V2 Blade Grips)

I would recommend getting a spare set of the DFC links and a set of the 600 ESP servo linkages.

-H60193
-H70Z002XX

The reason for these parts is the original 700N kits tend to require you to thread to DFC links out beyond what I'd be comfortable with on the two main linkage arms. This is not always the case, but a few of the conversions in my area have required this.

These parts can be used to boost the swashplate height up slightly, allowing you to properly thread the links fully onto the rods. This is accomplished by using one of the collared DFC links on the A-Arm, and using the 1.96x50mm rods for your bell crank to swashplate linkages.

Depending on your FBL unit, and if the models you bought are already equipped with them, you may want the Bell cranks/A-Arm with the dual holes. Some FBL units behave better with the higher resolution these offer. Your models may have these, as Align introduced them in late 2010/early 2011 on the 700N models.

You can do the conversion but is there much benefit? After all Align is starting to back away from DFC back to swash arms.

Is the A arm part # with the dual holes the same for the nitro & electric?? I was only able to find the one that says 700E on the side.

This is an instance where Align made a running change to the original part without changing the PN.

The nitro A arm assy is different from the E. It's PN is HN7033QF

Newer parts (~late 2010 and later) have both holes. Old inventory will not.

Amainhobbies has the newer rev for certain. Most of the other main stream vendors that have high parts turn over will have the new ones as well.

Just wondering though, where is the best resource for finding part #'s. Why don't the newer manuals include a replacement part list like the older ones do ?

Align has an official parts finder on their website:

http://shop.align.com.tw/partfinder.php?language=en

The advantage to the online parts finder is that it can be updated and changed with new/upgraded parts.
