Default RDLohr's TREX 450 Stronger Battery Mount

RDLohr’s Clearly Superior Products
TREX 450 Battery Mount
This mount provides a strong flexible mounting surface for your battery. (Inspired by copterklutz)

Mount in place of stock battery tray. Use stock screws to mount. Once you place Velcro on top for your battery it will raise the mounting surface to the height of the frame edges. Be very careful placing Velcro because it sticks very well to the Lexan!

Note: Peel protective paper off all Lexan before use (if there is any)
Note: Edges can be sanded with 220 grit sand paper if the fit is too tight or if there are rough edges or burrs.
Note: Clean any machine oil off the screws before installation
Note: For additional security, add a touch of CA when installing the screws (Optional)

Good Luck and thanks, http://www.rdlohr.com/ Rick rlohr@nycap.rr.com or helifreak: rdlohr

Cool! I think you'll like it. Simple but effective.

Thanks for the battery mount, Rick!

I'd reply to the HF good trader list but I'm sure you're on there already.

Hey Rick,
What's the weight of your battery holder. Just curious. The stock one is really light (and really weak). My 450 with a 2500 25C battery is already nose heavy.

I just weighed one at 5.4 gram with the protective paper on so just a hair less than that. Not sure what the stock one weighs between the two pieces and the screw that holds them together.

That's nice. Stock is about 3.5g. I gouged out an aluminum one and it was almost 10g.

My stock battery tray broke when I accidently dropped the helicopter. I was stupid and held it by the nose which with the Heli-Artist fuselage is a big fat no-no! The nose is only held on by magnets and for the instant I held it by the nose, the rear end dropped. Only damage was the battery tray.
So, I made a new one with a fiberglass sheet, and aluminum struts. WIll post a picture of it soon. Works better than the original, but does not look as clean. With the fuselage covering it, nobody will ever notice.

Sorry to hear you broke yours. The stock one breaks pretty easily. Let me know if you want one of mine.
