All this time I was under the impression the TDR2 was running on 12s so it's 14s?

Ok but if you get the 800 Pyro offered from Jan it's intended to be ran on 14s?

The Pyro 800 and 850 Jan supplies is 480 and 500 KV respectively and with available gear ratios you can run either 12 or 14S with them.

18 T for Pyro 800-48 at 14S for speed training would give you a top speed of what? 2400-2450 ?

Using 190.60 for main gear, I get 2082 on Mr mels calc, 480 kv ,14s @ 80% on Kosmik, I used JLC to work out the main gear against the listed gear ratios. The TDR 2 gearing is pinion T-71T First stage,19T-51T second stage R Sixt listed on rchelide.

Probably worth mentioning the pyro 800 is rated up to 30,000 rpm while the 850 is rated to 25, 000 rpm.

So the recomended speed setup (pyro 850 20t 14s) will require you to run a governor set at 2600rpm to prevent motor overspeed, so 86 to 87% on the governor. Un governed your motor will be spinning at 28, 000rpm at the start of flight and will likely go higher when unloaded in a dive.

Maybe I should get the 850 instead of the 800.

Jans recommendations are generally spot on and 90% of people will use them and be very happy. I cant wait to see what the other 10% of pepole will come up with. Scorpion or xnova motors. Different speedies, 16s setups. 800 size, light weight setups etc. So many possibilities.

Personally going to use an Xnova 50 Speed edition Tareq or Scorpion PAW motor, still undecided, coupled to a Kosmik 200

Nice choices there! More balls in those motors
The PAW goes hard in the Banshee!

Is there two versions for the Kosmik coming from Jan?

The one in the post prior to mine is black top and red base and the one showing in the German forum of the built is all black as shown below. (or may be the guy modified it)

I am a Kontronik Team Pilot and they made a black one for me. Nothing special about it just a "black edition".
