Helijive bailout delay
I tried the autorotation bailout function of the helijive (v13) today for the first time. There was a delay of about 2 sec before the bailout kicked in and the heli did the fast spool up. Is this normal? Luckily I was testing this on a 700, so I had enough hang time to stay afloat for the 2 sec till the bail out kicked in.
I'm running it on a pyro 700-52 on 12s lipos. The helijive is brand new and should have the default settings for the various params (I don't have a progcard/disc, so I'm assuming it's all default) Programmed mode 1 and then mode 4 with bailout (throttle of 15%). |

For example here is what happens for me: 1) Flip TH switch ON 2) Motor stops and heli begins autorotation 3) Flip TH switch OFF 4) Motor does nothing for 2 seconds 5) Motor begins spoolup 6) Motor finishes spoolup in 2-3 seconds. Is (4) normal? |

the motor will take some time before it catches back up with your gear train. in an auto lasting more than 5 sec the motor is more than likely stopped. so it will take it a second or so to catch up then you will feel it kick in shortly after.

Helijive bailout delay
Thanks! I'll just need to be prepared for this then. I was under the impression that I could bailout in the very last moment if needed.

I think you need to programmed mode 5 for Autorotation Bail Out.

The time taken to go from TH to throttle channel level is the regular spool up divided by six I believe. What happened was it took 2 seconds to get back to set throttle. It does this in order to not strip gear, fold blades, etc... You probably have your regular spool up set to 12 seconds which is the default on the Jive. If you want it faster just reduce regular spool up time. But you will need to decide on bailout of an auto earlier than when you need the power back. Cheers.
