Default DONE WITH HOBBY KING

Maybe its just me and my high expectations. But I am done with them. I placed a order with the USA warehouse on the 15th of Feb and paid for the 3-5 day shipping option and the damn thing still has not even shipped. They have to WORST service. I told them to cancel the order and refund my money. They told me they had to wait to make sure it had not shipped. I opened a ticket last Thursday and they still have not done anything about it.

I ordered my hk450pro from them in December and they shipped me a TT frame with a Belt Drive tail. I did my part, took all the pictures. and to this day I still have not received the correct part. I ordered the correct part and they shipped it, took 3 weeks but I should have never had to pay for it.

Just thought I would post so people will have a chance to read about my experience.

I will never order from ths international warehouse ever again.
Quickest they ever shipped en offer was 4 working days but most of the time it took them over a week. One I ordered a 1/16 monster Beetle and it took them 4 Weeks before they shipped it. Every one of these times everything on my order was "in stock" and I paid through the neck for EMS too. And the customer care is terrible. The will repeatedly quote their corporate approved lines over and over like "we understand your concern for your order and we will ship it to you as soon as possible" this drove me insane because it seemed as though they could not take any initiative or think for themselves.

That being said their Australian warehouse are pretty good and usually ship within 48 hours. I'll still get my lipos there.

I just take it with a grain of salt that orders will take 4-6 weeks....the USA warehouse shipping does take way too long for sure...

HK are great if you aren't in a hurry. Orders that I place with them tend to be orders that I then just forget about, so when they arrive, it' a nice suprise!

I must say, I'm finding more and more HK stuff turning up on sale in the UK, at pretty good prices, so these days, unless the saving is massive, I tend to go to the UK supplier to get the delivery.

In the UK, for 450 and 500 parts, check out:

The quality is excellent, the delivery is next day free in the UK.....and the service is awesome.

I just received an order that took a month. As Luke said, order and forget it.

I suspect their online chat is a computer translator, they send you back a canned reply....no Nancy, or Brad......those names and their "customer service" is
(Always wanted to use that smilie!)

Here is my rule of thumb for them...if it is normal stuff...wire...esc's....servo's....they are pretty quick..i see stuff from 2-3 weeks max...but..order lipo's...especially nano-techs and they go out by swiss post and take like 4-6 weeks i never order lipo's from the overseas warehouse if i need them quickly....so yeah i order and forget it...i just got a package in from them yesterday...took 4 weeks....but all was right in the set and i'm happy i got it all... i don't think i'd order a whole vehicle from them..heli or plane...but i've been tempted by the 1/5 gas buggy..too bad even in the us warehouse it is $90 just to ship!

Ive placed a fair amount of orders from The King over the years without any problems and I never had a wrong part shipped or missing.
My only complaint is the slow shipping but at the prices they offer and the massive stock selection I am overall VERY happy with them.
Heck, their awesome Turnigy / Zippy lipos alone saved me a fortune already.

Not the first time Luke has given this company high praise. Either has shares or they are GOOD.

I like HK. They are very slow in shipping, but you can't beat their prices and their inventory anywhere else that I have found. So far, I have been very happy with everything I've ordered from them, including my 450, and my orders have been correct and complete when they finally arrived. I plan to keep shopping with HK, just not for stuff I need right away.

I've just received my packet from them 9 days after shipping with the cheapest option (registered air mail). Though it took a week for them to ship because there was a JIT item on the list. 80% of the time I receive my stuff in 10 days with the cheap service. As long as I don't order JIT and backorder items.

All the exceptions were between December and February (which includes Christmas and Chinese New Year). It seems all distributors struggle with backlog in that period.

Customer service is a different issue. I never had to deal with them (credit for them in a way) but I heard horror stories including yours.

Default Phantom US Warehouse

Fist off; I've had very good experiences with HK; good prices, got what I ordered... but long shipping times. My question is why the heck is the US warehouse so slow to ship??? It's almost as bad as Tower Hobbies , but there are plenty of companies (headsuprc.com or example) that ship the same day. So why does HK US take a week to "process"? I think I've figured out the answer;

I suspect that there is no "US Warehouse" as we would think of one, they simply list items as being in the "US Warehouse" if they are high demand and easy to clear customs. Then they allow a number of orders to accumulate and do a single fast bulk shipment from China. Someone in the US then breaks apart the orders and reships within the US. I realize this isn't a big deal - and I'll still use HK if they have what I want for a great price, but there are some things to consider; If this is true it means HK is certainly misrepresenting themselves. If you say items are in a US warehouse that implies they should ship to you promptly and perhaps more importantly if you need to return them there is a substantial presence in country that will set things right.

Am I off in left field here?

Nope..think you are right..something is fishy with the US warehouse deal...i ordered 3 lipo's from them and they didn't ship for like 8 days...then it took 5 to get to the east coast...so i think your theory is close..a fast drop off from overseas and then a local re-pack. Kinda sucks...

i have over 30 orders with them..and except for a order that got lost at my work they have all been ok...just know i need to wait for stuff to show everytime...

That theory is probably not far from the truth.
They send a bulk shipment once a week to a couple guys in Washington state and they put the orders together and ship them.

I've ordered a lot of stuff from HK. As long as you're willing to wait, and your order is correct when you get it you'll be okay. Their "customer service" is a joke.

Sad really. If they got their act together they'd be huge.
