In the manual in my recent 550E (fb) box (purchased 22/12), these updated numbers for the torque tube settings are already in the main text (no correction page(s) added neither).

My manual now also shows an extra plastic tube (which is included in the box) to more easily insert the torque tube in the tail boom by pushing directly onto that bearing holder (so it will not move or twist while pushing in the torque tube). Good idea!

BTW: Do the Align manuals have version numbers? Where do I find them?

That is interesting because the manual I have says "about" 25.9 and 31.8.
Anyone have a feeling for which number is correct?

Good, it means my existing spare 600 landing gear spares will work. I checked the 550 instruction Manuel and sure enough, they match.
It makes finding parts that much easier.

thanks

http://www.align.com.tw/alignhtml/EN/index.html
Then select Downloads, Then Manuals, Then Remote Control.
Then scroll down to find the manual you want.

Just recieved my new 550E V2 and looking through the manual have found a mistake as follows:

The manual is dated August 2011.

Page 19 - The illustration of the tail gear box and tail rotor shows the tail blades mounted backwards.

My first ever build and I found the whole manual required a thorough study before starting the build. All mechanics in manual is 100%, but lacks a lot of information on the electrics/electronics - specially for a first timer like me.

Thank you. The align site has closed the heli manual sector.

The lack of readily available manuals to accompany the frequent changes and "upgrades" in parts is one of the reasons why looked outside Align for a 700 size heli. It is just too frustrating and time-consuming when I need to purchase new parts, and Align keeps it unclear what parts are compatible with whatever parts I have. Too often I purchase replacement parts, only to find the new parts or versions incompatible with my current parts. If manuals and revisions where available online, I would be be able to find the parts I need rather than just making a best guess. Considering the limited company support and lack of available manuals, I do not think I can purchase another Align helicopter to add to my fleet.

Very well said Sir.

But I would likely buy another Align heli if I were in the market simply because they offer a decent product within my budget with readily available parts support.
Although I agree, determining which part to buy can be frustrating to say the least.

I would just ask Align to reconsider this decision, and if anything, make online manuals and part information MORE available.
Come on Align, give us a little help here!

How do you ask Align to reconsider? They do not respond to my messages sent to their main website in Taiwan, and the folks at AlignRC, cannot give me a good explanation why Align will not post those manuals online.

Interestingly Align is not the only company that makes you jump through hoops to obtain a manual. Synergy's Matt Botos responded on the Synergy forum the he has not posted the Synergy E6/E7 manual because of concerns that [unscrupulous] manufacturers may copy his design. Compass also does not have the manuals on its website.

When choosing the 700 size heli, I excluded the companies that did not have readily available manuals online, especial manuals with actual part numbers. Interestingly, I found that except for Align, Synergy, and Compass, all other companies/models I researched (Mikado Logo 800 XXtreme, Henseleit TDR, Next-D Rave Ballistic, SAB Goblin 700, Thunder Tiger Raptor G4 E720, Gaui X7, MA Whiplash, minicopter Diabolo) had the manuals easily and readily accessible on their respective websites. With the Synergy E6/E7 and Compass 7HV, there are non-scanned excellent quality PDF versions of the manuals available, but you have to ask around in forums to find these. These two helicopter manuals are not easily and/or readily available. With Align, you are dependent on the help of Good Samaritans to obtain lower quality high MB scanned PDF versions of the manuals (Not cool).

Yes, Yes i would love to be able to see (follow) you as it's being put it together. When i did that with my 500 build, flying it has been enjoyable.
