After better than a month of questions and the "update jungle" to fly equal to what I had prior to the IKON, I have removed the IKON and moved back to my earlier controller. Dropped it in, mild tuning and reliable feedback via the setup software and all is well. As a general user I'm not willing to risk my equipment for beta testing. No disrespect to IKON, or it's users, just one mans opinion.

I agree ikon developer issue was not pleasing,
And yes official forum presence is low. (for now?) The firmware is stable and sure new features would be good. But stating that that you are beta testing this controller is just not true. |

Agreed. I think if they had more presence out here and communicated what was going on, what to expect and when to expect it, that would go a long way in keeping customers interested and involved.
When they tell us not to be concerned. That development is moving forward again and updates are coming but then they go silent yet again, it doesn't instill much confidence. They have much to learn about customer relations. Aside from all that, I like my how my Brain flies and I don't plan on changing it out at the moment. However I am exploring my options. I'm the type to stick it out for the long haul but when I'm done I'm really done. At some point I'll jump ship and never look back. I'm hopeful that it won't get to that point. |

Each reflects on his or her experiences and that is only my opinion for now. I didn't throw in the towel on IKON/MSH drama. I bought a new IKON in the middle of those update events, and it left me wanting more for my heli. I just went back to reliable and predictable results for me on my equipment for now. In my opinion I also think multiple "updates" should not be necessary for the controller of choice. I have seen and used a few controllers recently that the manufacturers have provided fewer than 3 "updates" and they are still easy to program and fly as when new. Many pilots have had them for years without the need for additional updates. End of rant. Thanks guys!

I just don't get what's unreliable about brain/ikon? I fly it on all of my helis and I am very happy on how it performs. Governor is amazing and heli feels smooth and predictable in the air.
Even with stock settings heli flies very well and I usually have to do only very minor tweaks in the advanced menu to get it to fly like I want it to. Sure, update would be nice, to have more functions. But if it doesn't come, it's still a very good fbl unit.

Good to hear. I'm about to try the governor on my new 550. It does fly great as is. Other than some of the SL issues, it's a solid FBL unit.

Hello, as promised we are working on an update.
As said before we expect to have the update out by the end of November with some new functions and some bugs fixed. Please do not ask for the list right now, About the SL problems, they come from vibes and there isn't much we can do at the moment but advice on using softer double sided tape and try to have a more vibe free heli as possible. regards, Corrado

Don't be afraid to try it. Take it up high and upright and then flick in and out of SL quickly to see what it does. If it stays calm then flick in and out of SL a little longer to verify. It is that easy, you don't need to invert to test it. If she drifts too much then adjust a few tenths at a time in the advanced menu. I call good enough on upright and fairly still but I have taken the time for deadnuts still. One more thing I have good luck with is setting the heli level tail to nose, then adding little natural right lean before pressing LEVEL in the software.

+1on the above. I use SL just to push my limits. Last weekend I needed it. Not for dumb dumb but orientation loss due to bad vision due to the clouds. I just flick it and continue. Later that day I took my other heli (vbar) but with an even worse color scheme and I nearly lost it just due view loss babied it in and put it in the car. 5 mins later I was doing piroflip S with my brain one knowing I have my sl
I've installed it with the milton mod. In the beginning I would test sl on each lift off. Now I don't test it anymore. |
