Just a suggestion, remove the fan and shroud as its not really needed and just makes a mess as it sucks up excess lubricant from the gearbox and blows it all over the hot section. I'll be removing mine the next time the turbine comes out of the airframe.

Another point of view on this one. I didn't have a shroud on my Bergen Magnum 44 and now I do on my 44K Whiplash. I definitely prefer the fan and shroud since it helps limit the temperature of the hottest part of the engine and prevents baking on of the small amounts of oil/fuel that end up seeping out between the SS exhaust manifold and the hot section (just a press fit). If you're getting too much excess lube, you might want to investigate the cause since my Whippy is staying nice and clean.

I too think that fan deriving some additional air over hottest turbine part is not bad at all.

Have fun

Hello kevinww

The Wren owners manual recomends the fan and shroud instalation as cbdane said, it helps control the temperature. Since I live in a constant 95 F I think it may be usefull here.

KevinChiu123
Very very soon!

Another pic, from an alternative canopy.

My trex800 wren44 combo is over 4 years old now. I have never had the fan or shroud on and the engine has run fine. The turbine has close to 140 hours now and went back for a service at 70 hours and Wren advised the gas generator bearings were fine. I live in the top end of Australia and we see temps around 38 deg C. in summer. I believe you can take or leave it, just my experience.

No doubt it works, but I believe it saves the other components from heating.

The wren dealer here in Brazil is the building man around. He uses the fan and shroud and I'm worried about warranty so I think I'll leave like that. UNLESS it really starts to mess arround with lubricant like kevinww said!

Looks great! That will be fun. One question, what supports the forward portion of the turbine?

Hey.

Nice looking T744 conversion.

One observation I'd advise, please do not fly this bird on the Align regulator it is not powerful enough for FBL use.
Just seen you're going to change it, must read all text not just the photos.

Hello guys!!

Thanks all for the advices!! Very helpfull!

Coolice
You are tottally right. I was talking about it few hours ago. Tomorrow I'm changing to a FROMECO. No way I'll use this align regulator. This thing is very cheap and not trust enough for such an expensive turbine helicopter.

Here it is. A friend of mine (a real jet master (planes)) help me on this. He also master helicopters. This was the maiden. We are slowly now to see if the turbine does not shut down suddendly and if everything goes ok.

Sorry for the poor quality my full HD camera is not with me this weekend. I'll make a better video next saturday.

Very very soon a full review and a lot of heli porn for you!!

Check out this sound!! The thing is so freaking REAL!!! VERY HAPPY!

PS: This IKON FBL is really amazing.

Wow!

Super nice. Flies well and stable.

The rotor head speed seems to be quite fast. Or, it is caused by recording effect.

What is your engine rpm? 185,000? 190,000? 195,000?!

Unforunately bad news.

I was flying (scale light) and the turbine suddenly just shut down. I was flying really ok, very nice smooth flying. About 4 minutes it shutted down. I auto rotated it and landed a bit fast.

Skid hit the ground an then blades touched the ground also, bud no damage to them. Main axis ok. everything else ok. The turbine is 100% ok. Not ever dirt starting normally!

1 broken rear skid
all the 4 servos suffered some damage. Will order all 4 new servos.
the torque tube will be changed also.

No other problem.

I don't know what's wrong, I believe who built it made some mistake in the fuel line and some bubble must have been the cause of it.

But that's ok! it could have been much worst!! I'm happy it's only a few parts.I'm rebuilding my self it from zero. I'll let you know.

Pull off the data log from the ECU. This should give some clue why it shut down.

Post the .txt file here if you need some help.

Calil: Sorry for your loss. Hope the engine is not bad.......

"I don't know what's wrong, I believe who built it made some mistake in the fuel line and some bubble must have been the cause of it".......
I also suffer from the same problem. The engine quits on me twice 1 hour ago. I can see some bubbles in the fuel line...........
2 weeks ago, we found out that the hopper tank and the fuel filter have some air inside.....
We thought we solve this problem.

However, today, don't know the reason yet.......

Can anyone, such as Wren, help us?!

Thanks a lot for your help.
