Exclamation Gyro gain on 3g

I was just going over the finless vid of gyro gain 101. Havnt seen it since I set up for the first time.
On it he mentions that no gyro needs to have the 'actual' gain set at over 30%.
I use end points on the gear chanel and not the gyro menu and I have it set at 40% in the software and 70% in the travel menu.
Given the equation to find true gain I get 70 divided by 1.44= 48% true gain (I dont know how or if the software gain effects this number.)
If I go to the recomended 30% or less (43% in travel menu) I get tail bounce on piro's. Finless says that anyyhing higher is bad for the servo.

With my set up of 40% in software and 70% in travel menu my heli is rock solid and im happy.

Im a bit lost
I have a dx7 tx and an Align ds650 servo and my ball at 15mm off center.

Can some one tell me where I should be (a ball park figure) as I fear i am over working the servo.

Hi Corrari
Look at your "settings display" when you have linked up to the 3G. On that page the "rudder gain" (real overall gain) will be shown. My Tx (DX6i) gyro is 60% and the "rudder total gain" on the software is 70, and the settings display shows 25% (which is no simple result of 60% x 70%). I could watch the rudder gain on the settings display in real time while I adjusted the "gyro" setting on the Tx. This same process applies to the ele and ail gain pots - you can watch the final gain in real time as you fiddle the pots while linked up - also the rudder delay and travels. More people should try this!
