Damn, noticed a SMALL fuel leak from the main fibreglass tank, will have to pull the mechanics out to get at it to see where it's coming from, THINK it' the seam so will clean it up and run a resin soaked glass strip all around the join line.

At least it'll smell scale now. Just add some grease, oil and sweat smell and you're golden.

Any more updates, inquiring minds need to know ! Such a beautiful project.

As I am just entering the world of scale birds, a couple very basic questions for the master....typically what make of paint do you use and what make/size airbrush?

Just fyi I did lay eyes upon Darryl's EC-135 last season and it is stunning, sounds even better! Will post some pix when I can.

Thank you

Michael, hi.
Glad you like it, should be ok when finished.

412 Almost ready to go, as to paint etc, i use eurethane paints most of the time, Sikens / Upol, etc as for airbrush, i use the IWATA TR2 with the larger paint bottles, for clearcoat i use a small HVLP touch up gun, hope that helps.

I myself want to build a scale heli with a twin stage turbine in the near future, but at the moment my 2.5 metre long turbine Ecureuil which is in the build is keeping me busy.

OK, it's been almost two months since the last update. Some of us may be suffering from withdrawal...

Has it flown yet????

I have purchased this helicopter from Ian . It really is a beauty. I will have it flown within the week, and will definitely update here with video ....

I am changing a few things however ... the cockpit for instance will be getting glass displays ... like this ....

Hi everyone. I finally got a chance to put on a full flight on the 412. We had our baby daughter born 3 weeks ago, so that put a pause to my RC activities ..

I will get better videos, however this is what my son got off of his cell phone.

the 412 is very smooth, and you can definately feel the momentum of the weight in flight. Looks and feels very scale like . Ian did an amazing job on the build ! I will be getting better video soon , also with some on board shots with electronics in flight.

Ian…

Ok, so I have just read your entire thread… Amazing! Well Done, ect.!

Your builds are very fun to follow and the level of skill, detail and realism are a benchmark for me and I would suspect others as well.

Only one problem I would like you to address as soon as possible; another build… Yes, I would, and I'm sure many others would like to see another build from you, soon please!

My vote: Schwing EC135.

Thank you for the thread. Ray

Ian…

I'll admit, hardly know you but I would like to be pushy and ask for some video's of your existing birds too… yes in addition to your new build!

Cheers, Ray
