Default 5v fan handle 2s lipo?

Didnt know where to put this question, but since it's a Castle 120 I'll place it here.

I have a no name 40mm fan I want to use my Castle 120. I've been pushing harder these days and the 120 is warming up inside my Goblin 660

Will the 5V (labled) fan handle direct 2S power? (8.4v)

I have a slightly larger 24v fan I could use direct from my flight pack power, but it seems like overkill. (50mm)

Thanks much

-Markus

I can't imagine it would last for very long even if it worked initially. I have one of the castle 5v fans inside the canopy on my goblin speed. I bought a little single cell 900 MAH lipo and stuck it to the frame of the the heli with a piece of double-sided tape. It doesn't weigh more than just a few grams

I just connect up to the fan with a small JST plug when ready to fly, and It will run the fan all day on a single charge since those little fans pulled virtually no current at all

It will work fine. My 5V HobbyWing fan has no problem on 8V or 8.4V.

5V PC fans are very tolerant. I've run a 40mm one up to 30V for a short time before it exploded

I suppose alternatively I could use a small step down from my Rx pack to 5v. I'm gonna look into some options.

Thanks very much guys

Seriously, there's no need.

Just run it on 8.4V. The ESC will appreciate the extra cooling from the higher RPM

Especially in the 95f temps we're getting around here.

Jep.
As long as you don't hook directly to a 6s LiPo, you're good
