Ok, the only wire that should plug in there is a sensor wire (only one (usually)white wire) that tells the vbar how many times your motor is turning.

correct. That is all I have running to mine.

If you BEC has two outlets (western robotics) plug the other wire into the sbus receiver too. Or what some people do is get an adapter for one of their servos to be able to plug the BEC and servo into female ends of the adapter, and the male end to the servo output on vbar.

http://www.motionrc.com/100mm-4-serv...Z2_xoCzhfw_wcB

It's not necessary but if you feel the need.

For clarification, the rpm sensor wire must go to upper pin of RX-A

Has anyone had any problems with the BEC so far?

I'm trouble-shooting "governor input contains glitches" errors in the VBar log. When I do collective pumps from a hover the heli bogs and BEC voltage drops to zero (OptiPower backup steps in). More noticeable with low HS than with high HS (more current draw on climbouts).

I think in my case I have a short with the motor, the stock Gaui GM-601 is only rated at 65A cts. When I bench-test the model my BEC voltage drops from 8.4V down to 8.1V with the motor running, and no errors in the log. So I think the problem is with the motor. I tested motor leads for continuity - seem fine.

Anywho, gonna get an XNova 4020 1000kV motor and 15T pinion for 6mm motor shaft. Hopefully it's a faulty motor.

Set pitch pump in Vbar to 100 and try a bench test again. If it Browns out you'll need either a better bec or a cap to supplement the current bec.

Thanks, I'll try that once I put the motor back into the heli. I took out the GM-601 and the wires coming out of the motor look almost melted together, that's how hot it got. Definitely not a good sign.

So far I'm pissed at Gaui's motor quality. My GM-302S on the X3 had to be also swapped out for an XNova, I also kept getting gov input glitch errors. And the Gaui ESC's BEC was sagging in voltage on the bench with the heli sitting still. So I swapped it out for HW 50A V3 and haven't looked back. Gaui X3 flies amazing now, very reliable and consistent power delivery.

I use the internal bec the Hobbywing v3 100A in my goblin 500 and it has been rock solid. I originally had a scorpion bug on it, but I removed it after monitoring the bec voltage telemetry for a hundred flights or so and never seeing it drop by more than 0.4V. I've been running it without backup for 200+ aggressive flights with no issues.

If you're wondering "why remove the bug?" it was because I often leave the heli in the hot car and got tired of taking it off and puting it on all the time.

I should mention that my gov 500 uses mini servos, not full size like the x5. It should still be fine though. I'm using BK minis which have full size motors.

I found the problem - faulty motor. Replaced with XNova 4020 1000kV and everything is fine now.

What VGov gain is everyone running in heli mode?

Has anyone succeeded to running in airplane mode and not having a nasty motor kick on startup?

Ordered a V3 after original failed the Spirit BEC test. Are you all running stock settings for motor?

Stock motor settings seem to be pretty good. I have not had to use anything different, and that is on 3 different helis/motors.

The Platinum-100A-V3 sounds like a great ESC to simplify my wiring a bit.
Currently I run the YGE100A with external Hercules super mini BEC.

What I read here is it will fit on it's side in between the frame.
No CF modding needed right? (Not using the fan.)

If you don't attach the fan it will also fit flat on the bottom space (its housing only a few millimeter wider than the CF frame):

Thx for the picture Rebel10.

At this moment I run the Hercules Super Mini BEC.
This external BEC has two servo wires to handle the current.

The hesitation I have is that the HW 100A V3 only has one servo wire to handle the BEC current.

Could this be a problem with my Align DS610 / DS650 combo?

If you look earlier in the thread, I mounted mine vertically. Minimum CF cutting.

I've seen that, but you use the fan which I don't want to do.
So the CF cutting is only needed for the fan to fit right?

Nah, I cut the bottom plate to pass the cable ties through which strap the ESC down. You can just drill two holes. But it's not needed, because you can also lean the ESC against the inside of the frame if you're not using the fan.

I'm just a neat freak, that's all. Like all my stuff bolted down and secure with cable ties lol there's like 1000 ways to mount that ESC on the X5

Actually it does have two outputs from the BEC, so you are good.

Great! I ordered one.
