Default Xtreme Productions Pro 180 Motor

Hello

I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to the Xtreme PRO 180 motor on my 120 SR?

I know the the stock motor has a female JST and the PRO 180 has a male. With a little soldering job it should get that taken care of right? Also the pinion is different on the 180 in comparison to the stock motor pinion. How difficult is it to change the pinion gear? Is it even possible to change the pinion gear?

Why would you bother when Xtreme Productions has a motor specifically for the 120SR

There's a lengthy discussion on it here

Default Stay with the specific one...

I think that motor needs 7.4v to run - for some reason I think that sticks in my mind... pretty sure I saw that in a forum in regards to the 180 motor for the cx used on the 120sr.

I would def. say go for the specific one for the 120sr... and there is one single post that would convince me (see below)

Stock SR120 motor - 211grams to -215grms
Xtreme SR120 motor - 228grams to -232grams

Stock SR120 motor weight 36grams
Xtreme SR120 motor weight 32grams with the long power wires

I found the Xtreme SR120 motor to pick up faster & is quieter/smoother,
in flight it has more lift & is faster than stock even though the numbers are similar

To get the readings i just taped my Heli to my kitchen scales then zeroed them, To get the negative reading

i tried it with some small scales first, but it took off with them

hope this helps
