Could somebody tell me what is needed to go bl. Just bought two mcpx off of eBay with tons of extra parts and bl extras. 2 nib bl motors and tail motors and an esc I think. Just have no idea what is what though. One heli flies great the other not so much and that is the one I would like to convert to bl

Sorry for such a late reply. Had to go back to work for a few weeks to support the habit. I have the spin 14000kv motor and the bl tail motor. Need to know what this is and where I can find a 1.5 mm pinion

I think that is a "the Steve", a gadget that helped a brushed ESC control a brushless motor.
And maybe Oversky for the pinion gear.

Cool, sorry I didn't know what you had there. Solder well!

I put no bling on mine. I use Airtime skids, mcpx BL grips (larger feathering shaft) , solid CF mainshaft (home made 4mm short) and I found a Thunder power 70c 325mah lipo!

Wondering if I should go dbl bl for the first time or should I try and start with the main at first. Been looking and there is so much info out there that it is hard to put together. Have no idea if my double esc needs to be flashed or if I need to purchase one that is already flashed. That is just one of the many questions I have

The double esc will most likely need to be flashed...so you will need the toolstick and the BLHeli software

You will need the appropriate pins for both motors, but be sure you use some method of securing them in the plugs...the one I did up some months ago for a buddy seemed to unplug themselves easily

Oversky double ESC use to come pre-flashed with an older XP7A BLheli version for the main and the governor turned off.
http://www.overskyrc.com/double-conv...ter-p-330.html

Description of the double ESC from the BLHeli "ESC's supported by BLHeli SiLabs" pdf,

"The ESC supports 1S operation, and has both a 10A main and a 3A tail ESC.
Switching speed of main is not fast, ~5us (on 2S) for pfet to go off.
Switching speed of tail is fast, <0.5us.
Main fet resistances are around 10mohm for N and 10mohm for P (typ at 2.5V).
The ESC has dedicated connectors for programming.
It is sold under many brand names, Oversky, Hawk and probably more.
The ESC is sold with the “XP 7A” code version for main, and the the “DP 3A”
version for tail.

Thanks NcCraig.that's the one I have only thing is one of the wires on the esc for the motor came off. Waiting on soldering iron to show up so I can reattach to board and then it will be back to plug n play. Also will it matter that I am Goin to use the mcpx bl tail motor as my tail motor

@Jonjet. I have been thinking about that and will be using some light epoxy to secure the plugs.

The tail motor from the mCPX BL is a 2S...won't work on a 1S system...

I like to use Liquid Tape from Home Depot...$5.99 a jar will last a lifetime

I have several mCPX brushless conversions, and I use the Oversky 7mm brushed tail motor on all of them

I have been looking at the oversky hpo3t 6mm motor. Only thing is my esc is plug and play and motor has no connector. Where would I find details on soldering a plug onto it or how would I solder it directly to esc. Also will stock tail rotor work or a tail rotor off of a 120sr

The HP03 is a good choce for a double brushless. That, a Plantraco prop (the best option for props) and your set.

You can either install a plug or direct solder to the board. Either way you just need to remove the enamel fro the motor wire. Easiest way is to hold a bit of solder on wire it until the enamel melts away.

Shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with a couple Plantraco props, the connectors and shrink tubing you'll need.

Thanks a lot guys. You make this hobby not seem so daunting. While it can still be a little overwhelming at times with the knowledge you guys posses and are willing to share makes it totally worthwhile. I absolut love flying these little heli and can't wait until I'm brave enough to step up to a bigger heli. But for now and the forsee able future I believe I will stick with the micros. You guys are the best
