Question Spartan quark questions

hey ive been messing with my new spartan quark gyro on my 700e with the bls251. i have it completely programmed and the tail holds pretty well during 3D flight, but i havent been able to get the tail to wag. with my new dx7s the gain or "rate" from -100 to 0 is rate mode, and 0 to 100 is heading hold mode. right know i have an input in the 60's ( i cant exactly remember it). For my trex 450 it hold at 38 in the gyro menu in idle up. Im wondering if it is usual for quarks to hold at this high of a rate/gain? Any input would help greatly, thank you!

I'm at 57.5 on my DX8. 60 gave me a wag.

It was suggested on the Spartan forum that you plug the tail servo into the
gain channel. Adjust gain up and down and watch for servo movement. A good
way to confirm you are actually changing the gain.

i would say it depends on the tail servo. i have had some that i could just keep pumping the gain up and it just did not get a wag, so i set the gain to what i think is a average gain.

If you can't get wag, then increasing mechanical gain may be in order. Making up a
few different length servo arms, and going longer until wag. If you can max out gain
in the radio without wag, you can likely improve tail performance with a longer arm.
Servo speed also plays a big part.

hey thanks for all your imput guys! i read the spartan rc article and my mechanical gain is very high according to that information so i might need to just go alittle higher (like 70-80's) to get wag. the ball link placement and tail mechanics are also pretty maxed and i programmed the gyro to the manual so im feeling that i just need to keep going on my rate
