New to electric and ESCs. CC Phoenix Ice 120HV
First, I haven't read the manual yet... Bought it now from a guy on Craigslist. ( with a motor and TT Titan X50E... Saved this heli's life )
Anyway, he didn't have the cable... Do I need it to setup the ESC? I assume there is some sort of software too. If I need it, let me know and I'll start looking to buy one tonight. 2nd, any good setup tips you have or a thread explaining all the details? Thanks for the help... Dan. |

Yes, you will need a Castle Link in order to properly set up for heli use. The CL connects to any standard USB cable. The software, including the Castle Viewing for data logging can be downloaded from the Castle website here:
http://www.castlecreations.com/downloads.html The software is self explanatory and each setting has a little icon next to each function explaining what each feature does. You can go ahead and download the software and it will go into demo mode if you open it up for a few seconds without a unit connected to it. Choose the proper ESC from the list, and explore the various settings ahead of time. You can always come back here for help with any specific questions once you have it and are ready to set it up.

If you need a Castle Link, just place a WTB ad. You get a free voucher for a Castle Link with every new Castle ESC. Therefore, there are lots of unclaimed vouchers circulating around. You should be able to purchase a code for between $11 to $14. The code includes free shipping within the US. It takes about 7 days to get it from Castle once you order it.

I have the manual for the ESC... but there is a corner missing and I find nothing about the link. So, I assume that was the free link piece of the manual.

The vouchers are a totally separate piece of paper. I have a spare one at home. I won't be back home for another 9 days, so that's way too long for you to wait. Just place a WTB ad for either a Link or a code. They sell on the forums between $11 and $14 average.
