they're both me...but you're twice as welcome

Here is another...

http://www.basicmicro.com/Starlite-RGB_p_152.html

Description
Make your own LED candles, strobe lights, mood lighting or anything else you can dream up. Check out the videos for inspiration.

The Starlite RGB incorporates a RGB LED and microcontroller for controlling the LED. 35 different modes of lighting are built in. Modes can be selected with the on board button. The Starlite RGB can also be controller serially or by an R/C pulse. The Starlite RGB can also be bussed with several hundred controlled by only 1 pin. Power 4.5VDC to 6VDC. (kinda a bummer that it runs off 4.5v, I guess you can't wire it directly to the board

dmarksvr, you have really gone to a lot of trouble for everyone and I thank you for that.

I really like that last one from basic micro. That is a very cool light and I almost ordered two today. I backed out when I saw what they wanted to charge for shipping. Outrageous and highway robbery.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression you could just plug it into an aux on your receiver, unless you're talking about taping into the board on the mQX, but maybe not. Still a great looking light and would love to have one in the front and one in the back of my new 6" mini quad.

I'm interested in the Starlite RGB, but I cannot find a button cell battery that will fit. There is no information I can find that will suffice on their website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. .

The receiver on the mqx is built into the 4 in 1 controller...there isn't a separate receiver like in many rc cars, helis or planes, and no where to plug anything in except the motors and battery. So to power anything not stock you have to provide your own power or wire it directly to the boards power. The board is powered by a 3.7volt battery and that light says it require at least 4.5v...so I'm assuming it wouldn't work unless you provided it with a separate power supply or tried to power the mqx board with 4.5volts which is more then you are supposed to so that may not be such a good idea. As for other rc craft that do have a separate receiver and operate with in the voltages of this light I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Btw skipper how much did that mini brushless quad cost...I like my mqx but I really want a small brushless quad

I did a quick search and didn't find any single 4.5v button cells but there are a bunch of 3v button cell batteries so you should just be able to put 2 of them together and wire this light to them, even install a switch if you want. It will run on 6v.

For such a small quad it is expensive. I paid just a little over $400, however, I purchased extra props and some other things. You can get by cheaper if you just get the ARF.

A hint for you, get it without the connectors and solder your ESC's to the motors for a neat appearance, put your battery on the bottom shelf, FC board on the center shelf and your receiver on the bottom of the top shelf. I just received my servo cable tools and I plan to shorten up the ESC cables to get it a little cleaned up.

I'm using AR6115E on the little quad and would like to get 2 Starlite RGB's, make a special servo cable and put one light in front and one in back, then you could choose your color and pattern for orientation.
